Buss-ted!

Cops have caught the notorious kissing bandit who caused a major security scare at Newark Airport Sunday when he strolled through a checkpoint the wrong way to give his girlfriend a smooch goodbye, sources said.

Haisong Jiang, a 28-year-old Rutgers bio-medical research grad student, brought the busy airport to a standstill and sparked a weeklong manhunt, sources said.

The stunning breach was missed by TSA guard Ruben Hernandez, who left his post, but was called a "model employee" by a union official.

After scouring images of license plates at the airport parking lot and matching them to passenger lists, Port Authority detectives identified Jiang as a suspect and went to his home in Piscataway, NJ, at 7:30 p.m. yesterday.

And one more thing, wideawake, because I travel, and I have to travel a lot, for years. Probably for the rest of my career, and so this incompetence directly affects my quality of life, and does demonstrably nothing for my security.

If you have any knowledge of checkpoint procedure, add one part mechanical aptitude, and one part imagination and one part malice....what do you see here?

Wheelchair bound persons are routinely routed through the open security exit passage that this guy went through.

Wheelchairs are made of hollow metal tubing.

The handicapped person is wanded down, and the wheelchair is given the once over by one of these "model employee" TSA boobs.

Once the wheelchair is through security, proceed to any roomy handicapped stall to retrieve your smuggled components and assemble them at your convenience and deliver them to whomever you choose inside the "secure area."

I think your assessment is pretty accurate that this particular guy should have known better.

Unfortunately, so do the terrorists, and all this should tell us is that the TSA is a barking junkyard dog which only bites the innocent, and ignores thieves because it's cold outside the doghouse at night.

Yes. Once again the passengers, not the TSA or Homeland Security, saved the day.

An utter disgrace to himself and the University.

Don’t like going against the flow here, but...

This guy did break the rules, and that led to a lot of lost time, money and energy on the part of the airport, airlines, passengers, and yes, the gubment.

Without a doubt, there was no malice intended, but he’s from China, so he’s no stranger to a multitude of rules and regs...whether serious or silly rules. He’s also no dummy if he’s at Rutgers.

He took a chance, lost, and now should suffer the consequences, as we would expect to happen to us if we pulled a bonehead move like this and got caught.

Personally, I think folks that pull stunts like this should be held civilly responsible for the financial damages caused...man hours, time lost, planes delayed, missed flights, baggage misdirected. A little tough, I know, but we don’t need garbage like this happening in the middle of a “real war” with real terrorists trying to kill us.

Of course, I guess it also depends on how hot the girlfriend is...
