Bill Clinton was at the centre of a race storm last night after he was accused of denigrating Barack Obama. The former president allegedly claimed during the hard-fought Democratic primary race: ‘A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee.’ He is said to have made the racist remark in a phone call entreating Senator Teddy Kennedy, the party’s vastly influential elder statesman, to endorse his wife, Hillary, in the delicately balanced 2008 nomination battle.
But the call so offended Senator Kennedy that it backfired and helped make up the veteran Washington power broker’s mind to throw his complete support behind Mr Obama’s historic bid for the White House, according to a new book...

Last night, he was unavailable for comment about the new claim, which is featured in a new book about the presidential election called ‘Game Change.’ American political writers John Heliemann and Mark Halperin claim in the book, which is published in the US Monday, that Mr Clinton made the call on the day after Mr Obama won a key primary in Iowa....
The book also claims Mrs Clinton, now in Mr Obama’s Cabinet as US Secretary of State, was keen to seize on claims of her rival’s past drug use to try and press home an advantage.
She is depicted as being pleased when her New Hampshire campaign chairman Bill Shaheen mentioned that Mr Obama took drugs as a young man. ‘Good for him,’ she is quoted as saying. ‘Let’s push it out.’ She was later persuaded by her staff not to try and capitalise on the controversy...

While I appreciate European media doing what American media will not do, I find it strange that they so easily point fingers our way about racial issues, yet I cannot seem to recall any Black PM’s or leaders in any European countries.

In 12 cup drip percolator pot, fill to 6 cup mark with water.
In filter, put 6 heaping scoops of coffee.
Medium roast works best, just make sure it’s a robust blend. Found a maxwellhouse ‘medium roast’ that was rather anemic.
Put pinch of salt in filter, about as much as it would take to cover the surface of a dime with one even layer. This keeps the coffee from tasting burned too quickly, it doesn’t age well brewed this way.
Brew, recirculate if need be, usually not.
Add sugar and dairy creamer. Creamora and coffeemate are not recommended unless you like the heart racing that Ranger Pudding gives. That, and the nondairy creamer will give you both a headache and a buzz with the coffee.
I usually put about 8 spoons of sugar in this stuff, it ends up being like Russian Kava, thick and sweet with that bitter overtone to it.
Oh, and I am NOT responsible for seeming demonic possession of the coffeepot, or the coffeepot ending up acting as if it has been damaged.
Be sure NOT to add creamora or coffeemate to the brew, unless you LIKE ranger pudding style heart racing.
When I brew that stuff for myself, I recirculate the stuff to brew a second time, but that’s me for my own personal enjoyment, and it may wreck the coffeepot. Don’t forget the salt, it’s important to the finished brew.
Once again we are buying into the PC BS that this is necessarily racist.
An equally viable and certainly true take is that he is polished and presentable, but servile, malleable and very limited intellectually. He is an oiled mediocrity.

I am fairly sure what he is meant is the BO would have been a low-level aide, along the lines of their drivers, “personal assistants” and “administrative assistants.” That is who fetches coffee in DC. And actually, that is about all he is qualified to do. Hate it when I agree with Clinton, but Obama makes Clinton look almost benign.
