Posted on 01/13/2010 8:50:35 AM PST by freespirited
A reporter trying to question Massachusetts Senate candidate Martha Coakley was involved in a scuffle with one of her aides.
John McCormack of the Weekly Standard fell Tuesday night as he tried to speak with the Democrat while simultaneously videotaping her and trying to pass a metal grate on a Washington sidewalk.
Photos and video of the incident show Coakley aide Michael Meehan trying to help McCormack up. A scuffle broke out as Meehan tried to block McCormack and determine if he was an operative of a rival campaign.
Coakley is seen ignoring McCormack. The trip prompted criticism, since Coakley was in Washington seeking money from lobbyists while polls show a tightening race.
Republican Scott Brown and independent Joseph L. Kennedy are also seeking to succeed the late Sen. Edward Kennedy.

This paper needs to be shot and put out of its misery.
Stumble? Are they that biased?
its not really a spin, more like a lie. Spin has some truth to it. This does not
They are shameless.
I stand corrected.
Is this Meehan a spawn of career MA RAT “Marty Meehan”?
Wow the least the Globe could have done was to call it an “assisted stumble”.
Baghdad Bob is alive and well and working for the Boston Globe.

Nah. The Boston Glob is undiluted truth, as pure as the driven snow. Just ask any Romney basher!

Nice post from “The Onion” but, seriously, could we keep these fake stories of the site?
Pair this with the outright lie about Palin in the Politico and you got yourself a double feature for Newsbusters.
Pravda on the Harbor.
(Isn’t it perfect that Massachussett(e)s may be the tipping point of the Tea Party movement?)
Can’t wait for The Globe to endorse Coakley - ought to be a fine editorial.
Now that’s an insult to Pravda!
its like saying. Someone punches you in the face and the media writes. You fell into their fist.

More fine reporting from the Soviet media.
OK whether he stumbled or even if he took a dive on purpose, HE WAS BEING BLOCKED by Meehan. The “dirty trick” here is that it was caught on video.
The guy tried to physically stop him and challenge him for his press credentials (because he obviously was asking questions he didn't want asked) and in the process pushed him into a barricade that caused him to fall. Once up, he still continued to try to halt him from getting near the candidate and challenged him for credentials. He was clearly trying to harass and impede the reporter, don't think he intended to knock him down, but still that wasn't a stumble.
This was no damned stumble, and for a paper to report it as such is flat out propaganda.
Isn’t this the same reporter that Scozzafava had arrested for asking tough questions ?
Claimed harassment or intimidation, IIRC.
Yes, it’s the same reporter. IIRC Dede didnt have him arrested, but her hubby called the cops on him and he was questioned.
In the video from Youtube.com it shows an actual assault by the Coakly Aide. DA should press charges. It is not legal for anyone to touch another person in that manner.
The sheep keep bleating. When will they/we morph into wolves?
BOSTON GLOBE REPORTERS ARE BOLD FACE LIARS!
Things move quickly .. watch closely, replay
It’s VERY clear that the reporter did not make
the first physical contact. Meehan was behind
Then he attempts to help him up after he
fell .. but ONLY after he caused the fall.
Then he says .. ‘you alright ?’ ... and gets
in his face, menacing him and continuing to
pursue him, until he assaults him again,
pushing him into the building .. it’s so
And Coakley was behind them both in the
initial assault, so all this was occurring
right in front of her eyes .. and she said and

BOSTON (AP) A reporter trying to question the Democrat seeking to replace Edward Kennedy in the Senate has been involved in a scuffle with one of her aides.
John McCormack of the Weekly Standard fell Tuesday night as he tried to speak with state Attorney General Martha Coakley. He was simultaneously videotaping her and trying to pass a metal grate on a Washington sidewalk.
Photos and video show Coakley aide Michael Meehan trying to help McCormack up. A scuffle broke out as Meehan tried to block McCormack and determine whether he was an operative of a rival campaign.
Coakley is shown ignoring McCormack.
The trip to Washington is being criticized because Coakley is seeking money from lobbyists as polls show a tightening race.
Rush is just talking about this and the globe took this version down since he started his show!
RSUH COVERED THE STORY AND THE GLOBE IMMEDIATELY CHANGED IT!
Rush just reported that the Boston Globe has pulled the story he read and replaced it with a different (more accurate) version.
I mean RUSH!
RUSH COVERED THE STORY AND THE GLOBE IMMEDIATELY CHANGED IT!!!!
NOW THAT’S POWER!
The Boston Globe has rewritten the story on their website and erased all the comments about their bias in reporting that the reporter “stumbled.”
That's truth pushing the media around and making them look real bad.
I like it.
The link still works ... and the comments are scathing.
I bet back in 1969 the headline read: Mary Jo Kopechne Suffocates while Swimming.
......and I’m sure that Mary Joe “stumbled” into that pond too.

That left a mark ..
Some of the comments are priceless.
“He deserved it ( choke) he was walking on the Kennedy’s sidewalk”
Heard that, too, but the same headline is
still at the link. They may have changed
some article text.
After Rush quoted their article of the ‘push down’, they changed they whole article! Only after Rush quoted it!
The treasonous Boston Glob ran porn site photos that had already been exposed as a hoax as “evidence” that US military were raping Iraq women.
They can rot in Hell for their siding with evil.
I expect nothing BUT Stalinist revisionist history from the Pravda Media.
This is why print journalism still matters. So they can't expunge their writings to fit the new revision of events.
The Glob has yet again been caught in a lie.
Oh pleeze that was no stumble it was a shove and then an insincere sorry to complete the CYA action of Meehan.
Is that an SEIU shirt under his suit coat?
Am I seeing things or is Meehan wearing a sweater under his suitcoat that is the exact SEIU shade of purple?
