Gibbs: "It never ceases to amaze that in times of amazing human suffering, somebody says something that could be so utterly stupid, but, it, like clockwork, happens with some regularity."

For once I agree with the current Administration. But that contemptible fool Pat Robertson gave them all the rope needed to hang him.
“Utterly Stupid”
I thought this was a story about Gibbs new nickname.
Hey Gibbsy you say something utterly stupid every day of the week. You have no room to talk.
Ironically, the sheer stupidity thus far displayed by this White House alone makes what Robertson said look miniscule.
They come out immediately with a president address on the Haiti situation but it takes lametard jack squat Barry and his band of merry flunkies 72 hours-—and to boot they stayed on their vacations, cancelled nothing-—to the underwear bomber terrorist incident of Flight 253.................................................... =.=
And, sometimes it’s like, “. . . the system worked.”
This is the only time I’ve agreed with Gibbs. But Gibbs is still the bigger idiot and I don’t think he feels any sympathy for anyone including the Haitians.
Robertson is getting all the attention he wants. He’s the pimp and the White House is one of his whores.
Pat’s an idiot and brought it on himself.
somebody says something that could be so utterly stupid, but, it, like clockwork, happens with some regularity.”
Yup...everday Zero runs his mouth.
Robertson’s comment was beyond stupid. But, it’s supposed to be a country with free speech. So, Robertson is free to hold those views.
If adults were running the White House, they wouldn’t comment on Robertson’s spew. But Gibbs and the WH staff are not that mature.
“Skip Gates is a friend of mine, so maybe I’m a little biased. I don’t know all the facts.”
“Number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly
Children in the White House, hurling childish insults. They’ve learned nothing.
Pot and kettle alert!
I dunno what God did or didn’t do in Haiti, Florida, New Orleans, etc., but I do know that the Old Testament is a running story of God’s people and peoples being crushed by God, or treated well by God, depending on their faith and obedience to God.
One can reject the Bible, but one cannot claim to be a Christian and then say that God doesn’t punish those who don’t follow him, and those who turn away from him.
If Robertson errs, he errs by speculating on the specifics. But he can hardly be said to be mean or hateful or outside the bounds of reasonableness. Unless one rejects the Judeo-Christian God to begin with.
Robertson should have paraphrased the esteemed Rev. Wright:
“Haiti’s chickens are coming home to ROOST!”
Pat Robertson was so stupid to attribute acts of nature to God.......Inshallah.
sarc
No beer with Haiti at the WH?
Unbelievable!
Bible thumping over the bleeding, dying victims of a natural disaster.
How evil is that?
Why does the White House even expend to effort to comment on idiots like Robertson. Makes them look just as foolish.
As loathe as I am to agree with Robber Fibbs, I find myself doing just that. Pat Robertson’s moronic comments are no different than the fool Fred Phelps and his commentary on American soldiers.
Pat’s comments are unnecessary, add nothing to the dialogue and do nothing to help those in need.
Robertson could obviously care less what Hussein or anyone else says about him.
And who's Pat Robertson? A nobody. Who cares what he says? Why would the office of the President bother with his comments? On the other hand, a candidate for President is on record categorizing babies as an inconvenience, and there's not press conference about that.
Yo, wuttup?
Gibbs’ contempt for Old Testament theology is also stupid given the total focus of islam on ..... a vengeful God
Hey Gibbie- what do “INSHALLAH” and “MASHALLAH” mean?
Ask your boss.
Or Obama blaming terrorist acts of murdering innocents in the marketplace......on the JEWS!
I'll bet you don't even know what he said.
What kind of fool does that make you, condemning a man for remarks you only recieved second or third hand?
Usually the "somebody" is your boss, Gibbs.
If Pat Robertson kept his mouth zipped, so would have Robert Gibbs. Both sides comments stunk to high heaven!
PR was right about Hugo Chavez, though. The world (especially the people of Venezuela) would have been much better off had we dispatched a sniper to Caracas to put a few grains of lead between that bastard’s beady eyes.
Just like every day you step up to the podium, butt boy.
He should know
“One can reject the Bible, but one cannot claim to be a Christian and then say that God doesnt punish those who dont follow him, and those who turn away from him.”
Right...and tragedies never happen to those who follow Him.
But, what if he is right!
So has conservative talk show host Michael Savage, who beat the WHHC (white house hooker corps) by a day. Milwaukee talk show host Charlie Sykes and most conservative hosts worth their salt. Not only was this fundamentalist preacher’s comments stupid, he was historically incorrect. Actually Haitians are far more religious and their Catholic segment put American Catholics to shame.

As for Roberts... idiot is a compliment...
Communist Manifesto and Koran thumping when Jews and innocents are beheaded and slaughtered by terrorists daily!
The left have won elections on such evil for decades.
“I’ll bet you don’t even know what he said.”
I know what he said, and DB is right on target.
He sounded like a sociopath to me, someone with zero ability to feel another’s pain.
Absolutely disgusting when so many are suffering.
Those who would defend his comments have no leg to stand on. So, stop it.
Why don’t we help these people out from beneath the rubble and bury their dead before we climb our religious frickin’ high horse?
Amateur hour continues at the Obama White House.
Robertson is a fool and his comments were stupid...
Turning against Pat Robertson and his supporters by calling them stupid from the podium of the White House is probably just as foolish. The standard answer to questions of this sort is ‘no comment’, or ‘We don’t pay attention to individual remarks’, or ‘his remarks were unfortunate’.
You dont infer the man is stupid Even though he clearly is. The White House podium should have a little couth, but Gibbs is just as likely to make stupid remarks as Robertson is. And his response to the question is proof of that.
Sounds as though you agree with that which is attributed to Robertson.
For those of us raised in The South, long ago, when I was a child, listening to the elders sitting on the porch, spitting tobacco juices and mulling over the events of the day’s news, I remember that whenever there was a huge natural disaster somewhere, hurricane, earthquake, tornado, etc., the invariable comment was made that, “There must be a lot of sinning going on down there.” The Bible itself says that God would use plagues, famines and other natural disasters to punish and bring his people back to the fold. In light of this, Robertson’s comment wasn’t so far fetched as one might first take it. Indeed, some could well say that Katrina or the Boxing Day Tsunami was of the same origin. The ways of nature conform to God’s will, and I would not belittle anyone for believing such ways....................
"And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants." (Leviticus 18:25)Blaming God for our choices is wrong and I believe Pat to be wrong every time he does that. My heart goes out to all the people of Haiti because God knows I've done my share of sinning in my life and to date I have had to pay the price for those sins. I can really sympathize with them especially after having lived through Ike. The point is, the people that live in Haiti choose to ignore God's principles. They practice witchcraft, voodoo, Islam, and just about every other form of demonic worship they can. The earth cannot continue to live with such debauchery and as the scripture above says she will vomit such people up.
Folks don't like it? Repent. But will they? Scripture also tells us...
"And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds." (Revelation 16:11)Folks never seem to learn do they? Now that God's been blamed and not the inhabitants of the land I'm waiting for Bush to get blamed. After all isn't everything Bush's fault?
Prayers to God for the Haitians. I pray that He will show mercy on those that are still alive and pray that they will experience a speedy recovery. I hope the Haitians are open to receive that.
But again, when does Gibbs even have to comment on something a private citizen says, as idiotic as it may be?
And how much have you financially supported the people of Haiti? Pat Robertson has done more, in practical terms, for the people of Haiti than most.
Have you seen the actual video or heard the audio of what Pat Robertson has said? Or are you simply reacting to the commentaries, which always hate on high-profile Christians?
What bugged me was the basic ignorance. Robertson said the Haitians overthrew French rule and Napoleon III before making their pact with the devil. Haitian independence occurred in 1804, and Napoleon III was born in 1808.
Calladita te ves más bonita -
It's a chance to take a shot at a "religious leader". They're not going to miss out on that.
The true evil is that it has been an island in a perpetual state of rape since it became a colony — either by the colonialists or its previous ruler, DuVallier. The poverty looks pretty much the same and has for centuries. The true evil is allowing it to continue and perpetrating the misery that has been allowed to incubate and reproduce.
“Hey Gibbsy you say something utterly stupid every day of the week”
Yup.
