John Denham is one of the more impressive members of a largely undistinguished Cabinet, and his speech yesterday on race and discrimination was characteristically thoughtful, if disingenuous. Mr Denham is the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, head of a department whose very title signifies the multiculturalist patchwork the country has become. The word "communities" is often used as a euphemistic shorthand for ethnic minorities, on whose advancement the Government has concentrated in recent years. So successfully has it done so, said Mr Denham, that "being black or Asian no longer means being automatically disadvantaged". He effectively declared the war on racism over, and claimed it was Labour that won it.

Why did elected officials ruin their country by permitting thousands of people, who practice a different religion, and a culture so different than there own...It was a really stunning country. I think they started in the 60’s when Harold something was PM. Just like we did here...but we are a country of immigrants and they’re not...or weren’t. It was coincidental...did the other EU countries do it at the same time as well. One might wonder if this was more than a coincidence. Just a thought that came to me on reading this article. In the past I would think tin-foil hat but today not so much.

A Labour party flack said recently that opening the immigration doors wide was a deliberate policy to make Britain multicultural with the added benefit (as they saw it) that any criticism from the Tories could be branded as racist.
In short, it was done purely for cynical political motives with no thought for the eventual effects upon society.

It was actually earlier than that, in the late 1950's. The original waves of mass immigration from the 'New Commonwealth' countries (mainly the Caribbean, India and Pakistan) were actively encouraged by the Conservative governments of the time to meet postwar labour shortages. As for your question about 'other EU countries' - this was nearly 20 years before the UK joined the EEC (as it then was). Immigration to the countries of the European mainland has been from quite different geographical sources - in the case of France, from their former African colonies, in Germany from Turkey etc etc

Come on - the British fought the Boer because they were rivals for British colonial ambitions in southern Africa, not for some bizarre class war reason.
I was talking about the current repression of the Boers because back during the Anglo-Boer War they were not even part of the working class as it was before they moved to the cities to find work after their farms were destroyed. The Boers were still a fairly pastoral people during the Anglo-Boer War. The point i was making was that the Boers are being repressed today as they are also considered a redundant working class folk.
