Jay Severin on the Tuesday Election
WTKK-FM (Listen Live) ^

Posted on 01/15/2010 12:22:54 PM PST by ml/nj

I haven't listened to Severin in quite some time, but it occurred to me as Rush was finishing that Severin would have some intelligent comments about the Tuesday election. I haven't been disappointed.

Click the link to listen until 6PM EST (I think).

I’m a Howie Carr guy myself. :-) I gave up on Jay when he started demagoguing the Iraq campaign and went back to Howie. The funniest thing Howie said yesterday was that Scott Brown even looked good in the attack ads. He could be dragging a woman into a back alley with a coat hanger in his hand and he still looked good. - Made me laugh out loud.

Funny, I’ve never listened to Howie Carr. But I’ve got him on WRKO. He’s interviewing Gerald Amirault.

Severin went to the deep end regarding his opposition to the Iraq war and his extreme hatred toward President Bush. I do not trust this Severin at all.

Yes, Jay always seemed like a not very nice phony in some way, while Howie’s a gem.

But if I might ask, what’s Jay’s take on it generally and on Obama’s visit? Thanks.

My impression of a typical Jay Severin session:

“Ken from car – how are you?”
“Jay! Great to talk to you! First time caller, longtime listener. I love your show and –“
“Thank you.”
“And I wanted to say –“
“Thank you. I have the best job in the world. It’s all because of you and people like you. You are the best and brightest and it is my pleasure to take your call. What’s on your mind?”
“Well, I –“
“It’s all yours. I’m eager to hear to from you.”
“Uhhhhh. Thanks. Uuhhhhh. I wanted to –“
“Go ahead.”
“Well, I was in the Air Force for 13 years and –“
“Thank you.”
“Oh, well, I –“
“Thank you. Thank you for your service. It’s people like you who make me proud to be an American. You are the best and brightest. Go ahead.”
“Thanks Jay. I –“
“No, Thank you. I mean it. What’s on your mind?”
“Well, I just wanted to say that I saw Martha Coakley on TV and –“
“I’m sorry.”
“What?”
“I’m sorry.
“Uuuhhh –“
“I’m sorry you had to see such an unpleasant person in your own living room. Not the sort of person you’d invite over for a pleasant evening, eh?”
“Uuuuhhhh, No, I guess I –“
“Nor I, my friend. Nor I. What’s on your mind?”
“Well, she mentioned the tax on banks, and –“
“Ken, that is an excellent topic! I will be addressing that topic in just a minute! But they’re waving at me, and I’ve got to go to a commercial! Thanks so much for the call!”

Also note how he wastes a lot of air time on some ugly and loud hard rock music. As I said before I do not trust him.

I agree, he even sunk to the “soldiers are stupid” meme re: Iraq.

I also have negative feelings about Severin. But he does understand campaigns and elections. So far I've found his comments about how Obama will help Coakley by stressing MLK to his base and encouraging them to vote seemingly stating the obvious, but Rush didn't say this. His comments about his belief that Clinton's appearance is useless are at least amusing.

Does Jay still say, “by virtue of” about 8 or 9 times each minute?

I very rarely listen to him but I am not surprised at all if he said this.

He gets into a rut, and , and, he stays with one — with one thing, and, and he keeps at it, by virtue of, by virtue of his passion, his intensity, his level of interest and, and, he’s in that rut and he wants to get out, by virtue of his eagerness to take some calls, but he’s in that rut, and he’s on the topic, that subject, that idea, that he’s focused on, by virtue of the fact that it’s an important idea, and, and, he’s talking about it, but he’s not moving on, because, because he’s in a rut, by virtue of the fact that he doesn’t really have much to say and, he’s — Karl from car! Nice to have you on the show!

well, did he think Coakley was going to pull it out on Tuesday (with or without electoral shenanigans) or that Brown would win?

I don’t get to hear him, and cannot listen in at my work desk.
While he can irritate sometimes, he spent his previous life in politics, running campaigns, and often has on-target insight.

My impression of a typical Jay Severin session:

You absolutely nailed it.

Between that and the way he repeats himself NUMEROUS times as he tries to lead into a subject, I couldn't stand to listen to the guy any more.

I'll stick with Howie, thanks...

Howie has Gerry Amirault on today and everytime he tells his story, I get more nauseous. Howie now has the radio guy who Martha told that Catholics shouldn’t work in ER’s on.
He is hitting it out of the park today!!!
If Brown wins, he owes a HUGE thanks to Howie!!!

I searched for Severin fans here. Jay was let go from The Blaze and I was wondering how to email or tweet a msg to him. If you’re still a fan, do you have any news? If not, sorry to bother you.
