I’ve not read the thread and don’t know what UMB stands for. I think I wrote you yesterday that the thugs have always behaved like this there. Maybe not always with machetes though.

I read articles where people asked why the Haitians weren’t better off and they stated that when food, clothing and goods were given to them the thugs would always come and take it away. That’s how it has always been.

I don't believe the USA is responsible for anything more than humanitarian aid related to the earthquake, & assistance related to restoring the Haitian gov’t, police, & some semblance of public order. Most important is protection of the aid workers.

Part of the humanitarian aid, I believe, is restoring water & sewage for sanitary reasons, & limited elec. service to enable gov’t & commerce to begin to function.

I do NOT believe we are responsible for rebuilding homes & businesses. MY limit is public infrastructure, humanitarian aid, & security for both.
