Boston radio station creates parody of Coakley attack ad
Washington Times - Water Cooler ^ | 1/17/10 | Kerry Picket

Democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley's campaign for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts has become so desperate, her negative campaign ads attacking her opponent ,GOP state Senator Scott Brown, has been relegated to reminding voters in the state that Mr. Brown is a *gasp* "Republican." Boston radio station 96.9 WTKK found the Coakley ads so amusing, the station created a parody of them. Check out their creation below. (Video at link)

When you’re getting mocked before the election, you know your campaign is imploding.

I still remember seeing a skit on SNL of Jon Lovitz playing Mike Dukakis BEFORE the election of 1988, at a post election loss party. Talk about a telling event.

Somebody is channeling George Smathers, LOL

In a 1950 senate primary election in Florida George Smathers was running against the incumbent Claude Pepper, and disclosed to the public that Pepper's sister was a "thespian" and his brother a "practicing homo sapiens" and not only that, but Pepper himself was "a known extrovert", he "matriculated" when he went to college, and he "practiced celibacy" before marriage.

The rural voters were horrified at such revelations, voted en masse for Smathers, and Pepper lost.

Very nice. The funny thing is, the actual Coakley ads use an even more sneering, derisive tone to the word “republican” than even that mock ad.

I listen to TKK all the time. There is a Coakley spot every single commercial break, and when Jay or Michelle come back on, they make fun of the ad. It’s wicked pissah.

I’m trying to not get too excited yet, but Joakley may be cooked. We just might have the second American Revolution against tyranny starting right here where the first one started.

As a matter of fact, it is. Almost as funny as the story about the revelation that Grover Cleveland may have produced an out-of-wedlock child, and the well known chant,

"Maw! Maw! Where's my paw?"

"Gone to the White House, HAW! HAW! HAW!"

That was great. Does anyone have a link to the original Koakley ad. It was so blatent in its attempt to strike fear into liberal’s hearts, that I though IT was a parody.

I don’t think the view counter is working. I watched it after you did, and the counter still says 37,843.

ROTFLMAO!

I guess you have to have seen the original attack ad to fully appreciate it. Nice work, WTTK!
