Bush: Mother Calls Clinton “My Fourth Brother”
CBS News ^ | January 17, 2010 | Michelle Levi

Posted on 01/17/2010 12:49:15 PM PST by presidio9

Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton have joined President Obama to spearhead American relief to victims of Haiti’s devasting earthquake. During a Saturday interview for "Face the Nation" at the White House, the two politically opposite former President’s admitted how close a relationship they actually have.

Moderator Bob Schieffer asked both men if they consider one another good friends. “Yeah I do,” Bush replied. “Me too,” Clinton echoed.

“My mother…calls him my fourth brother,” Bush admitted. “The black sheep of the family,” Clinton joked.

President Bush admitted that on occasion he would call his predecessor while in the White House.

“I was always pleased when he called me,” Clinton said. “I’d try to make it a practice never to bother the president. I don’t call President Obama either, I don’t think it’s you know, they’ve got plenty to do. But I, we have developed a very honest, good friendship,” Clinton explained.

“We’ve made our disagreements respectful and we’ve had a good time doing it,” he added.

Bush the elder is more than a passing acquaintance of Slick Willie.

See:

“Compromised: Clinton, Bush and the CIA” by Terry Reed.

ISBN 1-883955-02-5

Got my copy 3 weeks after publishing, just after Slick Willie’s inaugural. It is credible except for some accusations on the cover that are clearly wrong. (to sell books)

Slick was bought with money off Contra effort cash flow. As miserable as Slick Willie is, he is Not nearly as bad as Obozo is.

Not everybody who quits drinking goes to AA. To my knowledge George Bush was never "in" the Program.

There are only a handful of men who understand what doing that job is like. I can understand how they develop a camaraderie. I didn't like much...well most....of what Clinton did but when you compare him to zero then Clinton seems like a cakewalk. I wonder how zero will fare in the Past Presidents Association?

My son has been in AA for 30 years and from what I have learned from him about the 12 step program, no way GB would do it, in the first place his mother would not be allowed to tell they how to run the program.

At least we had better hope it’s over-a Bush is a Bush is a Bush and Jeb would be no better. The Bushes call themselves Texans, but their headwaters are in New England RINO moderate elitism. And, they are itinerant political whores.

I'm not in AA, but I stopped drinking over five years ago, and I know a lot of people in the Program. Some of them are big-time NYC executives. Others are famous actors and professional atheletes. I believe that it might be possible to attend meetings in the White House, but they would need to be closed meetings in the White House, with carefully picked attendees. Even then, it would still inevitibly get out. Even if it did get out, and Bush was directly questioned about it, the 11th Tradition would prevent him from giving a straight answer.

Liberals seem to be the ones who assert that it would have been imposible for Bush to quit using only prayer and family. I often heard the same warning from people in AA. I can testify that it is certainly possible, because I did it. So did he, I believe.

The jurisdiction I worked in 'protected' Freeway Ricky Ross suppliers.

If you were 'in the club' so to speak, life was good. We had sergeants purchasing homes a few blocks away from Alan Alda's weekend retreat......

Now tell me how a sergeant in 1986 comes up with the bread for a $1.3 million dollar home? When jumbo interest rates were between 9 to 10 percent?

In all honesty, being president can be a very lonely job. I liken this to the AI contestants who forge friendships. They understand what the other has gone through. This doesn’t mean they agree on all things politically, because they don’t. Its a very small club with only 5 living at the present. None of us know what its like to be in that pressure cooker. And, who’s to say we can’t learn from each other’s mistakes or successes?

Geesh, people, lighten up. Clinton did some good things for this country as well as not so good, but, his presidency was never catergorized as a failure like Jimmah Carter. I’ll bet none of them call him for advice!

Politicians are such actors! The put on an act that they don’t like each other, that they disagree with each other, that they are fighting against their evil competition to keep the country safe, they have the country divided by politics and then, when no one is looking, they slap each other on the back for their performances.

sickening...like they don’t actually get the seriousness of their jobs. like immature idiot teenagers!

Both are insincere compliments given at times where such are traditional. Lott complimenting Thurmond at his 100th birthday party and G.W.Bush complimenting Clinton as they try to raise funds for Haiti relief.

Times like my too examples above are like toast at a wedding dinner. No one expects wedding toast to be anything but complimentary, no matter how the one offerring the toast actually feels. But it is amazing how many people in political sites claim not to understand such things. It is one thing for the race baiter to pretend that Lott was serious about Thurmond. I expect no better of the race baiters. It is another thing for people here not to understand such customs. I expect better of people here.

Many Republicans believed ever word that came out of W's mouth except for the ones saying he and Mr Gore were not that far apart on most issues. Well now we can see why. Yep now maybe some can understand why Bush really didn't seem to care who was elected POTUS when he left either. Notice this. Bush made Obama’s trip to the White House an easy road indeed. The New World Order.

Like kids sharing candy. One for you, two for me, Two for you, two for me. When the media is hyping you a GOP candidate look out but most important look at what the heck they actually stand for and in Bush's case who they have stood and stand with. You can send a N.E. Liberal Rockefeller Republican to Texas to live for business reasons but he'll still teach his children to be Rockefeller Republican liberals. No more Bush.

Lott's was a failed, awkward attempt to be gracious to a senile old man. Bush's was a successful attempt to be gracious to a snake.

Gosh, I just feel so badly that I "do not inderstand such customs." I'll try not to disappoint you in the future.

Lott’s attempt was not failed nor awkward until the race baiter got ahold of it. It was a typical sometimes sincere, sometimes insincere compliment given at weddings, funerals, birthdays etc.

Bush’s attempt at complimenting Clinton was if anything more awkward as it pointed out that he does not really have a family of his own and that it would be surprising for a classy family like the Bush family to treat him as one of their own. But it is necessary when they are joining together to raise disaster relief funds.

Whether you disappoint me in the future is of no accord. Social skills are often important in peoples lives. And since this is a political board, you really need to understand in politics saying someone is your best bud may be an insincere compliment whether it is in the Senate or someone in your party or even an opponent. It may and of is meaningless when people in politics toss around a compliment.
