Pelosi: Mass. Election Wont Stop Health Bill
By DAVID M. HERSZENHORN
With Democrats increasingly anxious about the special election in Massachusetts on Tuesday and what it will mean for their big health care legislation, the House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, told reporters in California Monday that the legislation would move forward not matter what.
Lets remove all doubt, Ms. Pelosi said. We will have health care one way or another.
Ms. Pelosi acknowledged that the path forward could change if the Democrat in the Massachusetts race, Martha Coakley, loses.
Certainly the dynamic will change depending on what happens in Massachusetts, Ms. Pelosi said. Just the question of how we would proceed. But it doesnt mean we wont have a health care bill.
The speaker also slammed the Republican in the Massachusetts race, Scott Brown, and indeed all Congressional Republicans, for trying to block the legislation.
I heard the candidate in Massachusetts, the Republican candidate, say Lets go back to the drawing board, Ms. Pelosi said.
She continued at length:
The drawing board for the Republican party on health care is to tear it up and throw it away and shred it and never revisit it. This is the opportunity of a generation. If this opportunity is not realized, there wont be health care for all Americans.
There is no back to the drawing board. The Republicans in Congress have said we will kill health care reform. They werent for Social Security. They werent for Medicare. And they arent for health care for all Americans. They are the handmaidens of the insurance companies and the American people need to understand that. But rather than focus on them wed rather focus on what is in our bill. We will have legislation that removes all doubt that health care is a right not a privilege, that we will no longer be operating on the playing field of the insurance companies but they will be on the playing field of the American people.
Its a very exciting prospect. I have confidence about tomorrow, because I am a grassroots organizer, because it doesnt matter what the polls say, it matters who votes.
She added: Lets remove all doubt that we will have health care one way or another. Back to the drawing board means a great big zero for the American people.

Thanks!! Got a real good cold from all the recent ‘global warming’. Feeling fit as a fiddle now.
Trap game? Probably neither one in the classic sense.
But with Indy being a 7.5 point favorite, I’m very tempted to take those points thinking the game will be close. Can the Jets win? Of course. But in the end I can’t see Peyton Manning doing what Philip Rivers did yesterday.
I want Brett Farve to win another SB, so you know where I stand there. Also, keep this in mind, the Saints for as good as they played beat a secondary that was trashed and injury prone. The Vikings are in relatively good shape in most all aspects so Drew Brees will have to be at his very, very best Sunday.
I’m off to the 24 thread....
Nice family photo..Thanks for sharing!
Insurgent Massachussetts Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown told CNN he expects to be installed quickly as Massachusetts next senator should he win the states special election Tuesday.
Asked about the state of the race, Brown said hes still campaigning as if hes running down 30 points.
But sounding confident, the GOP state senator says hes made plans to travel to Washington Friday if hes victorious.
don’t forget Nazi’s carrying confederate flags...
This guy sounds like one of those Obamite astroturf calls to talk radio.
