LAWRENCE, Mass. Driving around the snowy-to-slushy streets of this Massachusetts mill town on the Merrimack River, its clear that this community, nicknamed Immigrant City, has seen better days.
Boarded-up buildings are visible around town. The large mills appear empty. Gang graffiti stains fences and abandoned houses. And with its sizable Hispanic population, largely Puerto Rican, there is also a fairly solid Democrat base here in Essex County.
While there are a smattering of Martha Coakley for U.S. Senate signs around town, according to locals who follow politics, its not as many as one would normally expect in a major election. Few if any Scott Brown signs were seen.
The Democrats running Massachusetts have turned much of Massachusetts into an economic wasteland.
I think Dems like the GOP are sick of being screwed. They can blame Bush all they want, but the fact is even Dems realize that Obama’s domestic agenda has been a disaster. Business will not start hiring again until this healthcare bill is dead and buried.
I'm native to MA, and now an Ohioan. A year ago, I had to get gas in Haverhill. Holy crap.
Go, Scott, Go!
Lawrence is the Detroit of MA.
What a fine eulogy for the DemoRAT party; boarded up buildings, no jobs, gang activities, etc. Yep, and these idiots still vote for the DimWits. I wonder where they were when God handed out common sense?
Lawrence just had a GOP Mayor leave office this month (due to term limits).
seems like he did a GREAT job.
I’ve gotten lost in Lawrence a few times and found myself in a few once beautiful neighborhhods.
Mansions turned into Ghettos.
Giant pillars on their front porches covered with graffiti.
A virus that i do not want to be spread.
I think he did what he could, but I sincerly doubt he received much support. He was succeeded by a double-dipping leftist rodent thug this month, who reflects the mess, sadly.
