What else would you use to hold the bottle?

A box? You know, one not "Coffin" shaped. I've seen bottles in special boxes before, rectangular ones.

Coffins imply death, burial. Using a coffin to hold the bottle to christen a ship/aircraft that carries people, just seemed weird to me. Which is why I asked if there was any tradition behind it which might explain it.
