THE number of people killed in last week's devastating Haitian earthquake has risen to 75,000, while 250,000 were injured and a million left homeless, the Haitian government said yesterday.

The updated figures were contained in an statement issued by Haiti's civil defence department, which said the beleaguered Caribbean nation is in desperate need of temporary shelters, water, food, medical supplies and counselors.

One week ago, Haiti was hit by a massive 7.0-magnitude quake which shattered homes and buried citizens under tonnes of rubble across a broad area around the capital Port au Prince.

The statement said half of the buildings in the region had been destroyed.

If that's the conservative estimate figures, I'm up for that.

We're skeptical the death toll could progressively increase.

Know millions will be dumped in the USA most in Florida. Loads of freepers reposting the liberal media’s dire stories to rachet up “compassion.”

The same compassion the left used to flood england with muslim “asylum seekers.” Now england is dead and english people with any money are fleeing the country.

TV manipulates people so easily even people posting here. Obama flooding FL with 400,000 haaitians or more means he will win FLorida in 2012. Scott brown’s win will be meaningless.

Latest death figure on the MSM is 200,000. I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up surpassing the Christmas tsunami figure. It will take a while to dig out all the bodies, and reunite those whe can’t find each other and determine who has disappeared forever.

Where do you get this stupidity that Hatians flooding Florida will mean an Obama win in Florida in 2012. Did you even read the comment and link I sent you last night explaining that it takes 5 year before one can apply for citizenship, except if one marries an American citizen in which case it might be 3 years. Anyone applying now would not be a citizen until after 2012. We have enough to be alarmed about without false panic notices.

Guess you had no idea what occurred in FL during the 2008 elections. At most precincts they actually check licenses. He carried FL in 2008 - helped by votes from illegal haitians.

People need to start screaming, calling and faxing instead of saying - oh please send us more Haitians. The TV news plays Americans so easily. I have been calling and faxing FL politicians to stop this Mariel boatlift.

Other people need to as well. We have people even here talking about the poor orphans and using UN numbers and CNN spin.
