WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama ordered federal agencies on Wednesday to take measures to prevent companies that are delinquent in paying taxes from obtaining new government contracts.
Obama also instructed the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to review the accuracy of companies' reports on their tax obligations to be sure they are truthful.
"We need to be sure that when a company says it's paying taxes, that company is, in fact, paying taxes," Obama said.
The move is the latest in a series of populist-toned events Obama, a Democrat, has emphasized to generate support for his political and legislative agenda, which took a major hit on Tuesday after an upset victory by a Republican for the Senate seat left vacant by the death of liberal Senator Ted Kennedy.

If you supported Scott Brown, expect a call from the IRS!
“U.S. President Barack Obama ordered federal agencies on Wednesday to take measures to prevent companies that are delinquent in paying taxes from obtaining new government contracts.”
Therefore, Geitner, Rangel, and all the other Democrat tax cheats should lose their “government contracts”, too.
These people live in a self-induced delusional bubble thinking that we don’t smell the stench of their hypocrisy.
Wouldn't it be nice to have one of the presstitutes make a point of this when 0bama tries to snow the American people with this junk? Sort of a "How 'bout you start at home, Mr. President?" or such??
This was not the week to quit smoking!
Scott Brown celebrated with his wife Gail Huff and daughters after defeating
Democrat Martha Coakley in the U.S. Senate race on Tuesday night.
“is this satire?”
I thought I was looking at the Onion when I realized that he isn’t kidding. Can anyone say Hypocrite?
This has to be the outcome of a suggestion passed along by Massachusetts [shoe-in] Senate candidate Martha (ma Marsha) Coakley a couple weeks ago. It sure smacks of her political acumen.
...here's a good place to start.
LOL now that is funny!!
When I read the title line, I had to open this thread, because I couldn’t start laughing.
It is to laugh...
start - stop (old age has set in and Rush is on)
“Therefore, Geitner, Rangel, and all the other Democrat tax cheats should lose their government contracts, too.”
And Daschle
And Solis
And Killefer
And Kirk

Now that Obummer, the Marxist now posing as a Fascist, no longer has control of the senate and now that the house dims are going to split into two groups, the real dims and the progressives and thereby lose their united power, Obummer, the Marxist now posing as a Fascist, will do a lot of legislation by executive order.
This is a signal that you had better not act like Fox News and some of the other corporations or you are going to get an audit.
One of those big audits that ties the company in knots and costs hundreds of thousands in accounting and legal fees.
Desperate men do desperate things.
So expect more of this.
It is certainly not satire. It is an attempt to bludgeon companies into paying higher taxes, a stealth tax increase. This idea, together with business tax law changes in the Housse health bill, will increase business taxes. No one understands the tax code. The IRS thinks that the tax code is whatever they say it is. This proposal will give the IRS lots of leverage to disallow valid business tax deductions. The only remedy is tax court. However, the company can be denied federal contracts long before tax court acts.
This is a joke, right?
LOL falling out of my chair. Hey bummer, God gave you a chance and you blew it! "CHANGE" your ways.
Our elected “representatives” need to grow some balls, and ask him this question every chance they get.
