The Fall of the House of Kennedy
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 01-20-10 | DANIEL HENNINGER

The battle over who defines the work and institutions that make a nation thrive and grow.

Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts will not endure unless Republicans clearly understand the meaning of "the machine" that he ran against and defeated.

Yes, it is about a general revulsion at government spending, what is sometimes called "the blob." But blobs are shapeless things, and in the days ahead we will see the Obama White House work hard to reshape the blob into a deficit hawk. Unless the facade is ripped away, the machine will survive.

The revolt against the machine began with voters' 2006 ouster of the Republican majority in Congress for making a mockery of fiscal rectitude. An angry electorate then swept Barack Obama into office. Now Mr. Obama is saying voters elected him on the same wave of anger that elected Scott Brown. Sorry, but Messrs. Obama and Brown are not surfing in the same political ocean.

The central battle in our time is over political primacy. It is a competition between the public sector and the private sector over who defines the work and the institutions that make a nation thrive and grow.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy planted the seeds that grew the modern Democratic Party. That year, JFK signed executive order 10988 allowing the unionization of the federal work force. This changed everything in the American political system. Kennedy's order swung open the door for the inexorable rise of a unionized public work force in many states and cities.

This in turn led to the fantastic growth in membership of the public employee unions—The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the teachers' National Education Association.

let's not get too cocky...4 yrs from now, a Kennedy could walk in to start a new Kennedy era...and would have a very good chance of winning....

Pubs must do:...do not take any race for granted...

run good candidates...personable and likeable as well as well-spoken...(if they can look like Scott.B than all the better)

continue to work on minority and women candidates..

fight every race.

do not become Dims light ...

I can never understand the cults of Roosevelt and Kennedy. How can two presidents who have done so much to undermine the foundation of the economic prosperity of this country be so admired?

The victors write the history books....which in turn become the text books of our school children....which then are the reference point for idealogues in the media.

Subliminals.

Kennedy had one of the largest staff’s on capital hill. Nobody has said anything about what will happen to all of them. Some will be absorbed by other Rats, but not all Rats will dislodge their own staff people.
Brown won’t have but a few staffers as a junior Senator..so they won’t be working for him. Intestesting.

Because 90% of Americans have spent 12 years locked in government-run indoctrination centers, where Democrat Presidents are all gods, and all Republican Presidents are toadies of evil corporations.

If there's anything this country can do, it's to never let another Kennedy ever sit in the senate again.

The Fall of the House of Kennedy lately can be summed up in three words:

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia

It will not change until conservatives enmasse cancel cable and Sat TV which sadly is not gonna happen. TV news and TV with some of the print media control the country.

Fox is 5 to 10% owned by the Saudis but it is a big stake to heavily influence the management.

The entire Kennedy family, since Joe Sr. made his millions as a rum-runner, has been a cancer - fed by a fawning media - on the body politic.

JFK, RFK, and Teddy - along with the minor Kennedy minions - have done more damage to our Nation than all the Al-Queda suicide bombers ever could.

May they all rot in hell.

In 1963 JFK was President, RFK was Attorney General of the US and Teddy K was the new Junior Senator from Massachusetts. Collectively, between these 3 brothers, they served 63 years in the US Legislative branch alone, better than 25% of the entire history of the United States. Add the 2nd and 3rd generations of Kennedy Scions, and they are quite probably the most prolific political family in US History. An oddity is that the only other families that come anywhere close, the Adams and the Bush Families come from the same geographical area as the Kennedy Family.

The repeal of executive order 10988 needs to be a campaign issue. Government workers should not be allowed to be unionized.

“I can never understand the cults of Roosevelt and Kennedy. How can two presidents who have done so much to undermine the foundation of the economic prosperity of this country be so admired? “

Because his supporters consciously strove to dominate the media and the education system, while there were almost no serious opponents.

The Kennedy Crime Family has been a pestilence on this country.

Finally, MA reversed the Kennedy Curse.
