President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama donated $15,000 today to the Haiti relief efforts, the White House confirms.

The donation came from their personal bank account, a check written to the Clinton-Bush Haiti fund.

“The President and First Lady have been inspired by the way that millions of Americans have responded with tremendous generosity to the Haiti crisis – even in these tough economic times,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest says, “So, today, they sent their own check for $15,000 to the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund to support the ongoing relief efforts in that country.”

The Clinton-Bush Haiti fund was launched on Friday – in a joint effort by former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, prompted by the president asking the two to help get Americans involved in relief efforts. As of today the fund has received more than 126,000 contributions for relief and recovery efforts.

They should have written the check to the Bush political fund.

The $15,000 is legit and from the Obama paycheck.

Yeah, but slick willy got it, cashed it and split it with osamaobama.

There is nothing those two scumbags won't do.

apparently you do.

I got more important things to ponder.

A REAL POTUS WOULD NOT PUBLICIZE HIS PERSONAL DONATION.

Exactly! By announcing this he's making it *all about him*. But, of course, that's his MO.

Oh! I agree that most people making generous donations to Haiti will not publicize it. Let’s see if others follow - Biden, Clinton, Pelosi, Reid, etc. or even GWB. I’m sure he and his family have already contributed WITHOUT the press release.

Would have been a nice time to roll out the Nobel Peace Prize dollars... he hasn’t donated them yet has he?

The banks are closed down there. The people can’t get food. The one I know hasn’t eaten since the schools are closed and that is where he eats his one meal.

He got $1.2 MILLION for his fake Peace Prize.
Which he said would be donated to charity.

This is actually really insulting.
He admitted he didn’t deserve the Prize.

But then the majority in Haiti ARE Christians

“Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Matthew 6:1-4

“Josh Earnest” should be ashamed of himself, Goebbels had clear and definite rules about “BAD PROPAGANDA”

The class act is to always mention your charitable donations, including the amount...

So the Obama’s donated $15K. That’s OK but Angelina Jolie donated $1M the day after it happened. PS: She is not an Obambi fan in any way shape or form.

Yes Angie didn’t even take 24 hours to think about it.
She just did it.

Seems like genuine generosity to me. Who’s business is it that they spent more on their vacation than they donated in aide to Haiti?

__________

Perhaps he has already donated the prize money. Should he make that a public event to satisfy us FReepers?

I seem to remember hearing something about “the right hand not letting the left hand know about what it was doing. Fifteen thousand isn't chump change to me but to people like the Obama’s it is. Better not to have mentioned this generous (not!) donation from people who could have given much, much more.

Real generosity is accomplished quietly.

It’s all for show. The Obamas, like most Dems, only give charitable donations when it is politically expedient to do so.

Good that they decided to donate. However most people just donate time, energy and monies without public knowledge. This should have been done in private without public acknowledgment.
