After one year in office, reporters covering the White House are still waiting for Obama to fulfill his promise of transparency.
From the L.A. Times
"Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on," Robert Gibbs implored the White House press corps. "Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on."
That's 16 "hold ons" President Obama's chief spokesman reeled off Friday at his regular briefing, with a few more following, after a brief interlude.
That's the kind of verbal salvo you lay down when you're on the defensive, representing a boss who over-promised on the campaign trail and now under-delivered from the Oval Office, when it comes to pledges of transparency.
I don't know how many folks, especially experienced political hands, really expected Obama to broadcast healthcare reform talks on C-SPAN.
But that's what candidate Obama said he would do. He promised, on several occasions, that the American people would be able to see for themselves whether their government represented their healthcare interests.

I think the MSM has a lot of nerve. They helped create this monster.
You know, bless your heart, sir. My son is over in Iraq fighting for your right to protest right now.

Dealing with the press:

“Shut up”, he explained.
I don’t care what anybody else says about you, I think you are a gentleman/lady (??) and a scholar. Thanks for the Photoshop - well done and much appreciated.
You are exactly right.
Obama was a media creation. Hyped by a biased, purposeful deception, by the media and ‘stars’ in all genre’s.. Even going so far as to call the American citizenry vile homosexual names to protect their created hyped image.

bttt
Without question. ;0)
Wait a minute, the media that fabricated the obama myth, openly campaigned for him and covered for all his disqualifications is now going to complain about the lack of transparency? Hey media, it was your constant adoration of this guy for his whole political life that got us where we are. You all allowed a thug into the white house that has no respect for the Constitution. You all ought to be paying attention to the threats to the first ammendment. You all are whistling past the graveyard. He will destroy you is he gets the chance.
He got the job because he fit the suit.
some of you will know what that means.
No press conference for the big “O” in 6 months.
This is O's nervous-tick filler for when he can't find his place on the teleprompter. Not having anything substantive to draw from within his own skull he'll just keep up the "We're OK" chant until the 'prompter operator scrolls back to a spot Obie recognizes. It's like a skipping phonograph needle for those old enough to remember; it'll just keep going 'til someone comes along and resets it into the groove again.
“Well, it was a little loose around the shoulders”
Did I just put a date on myself? ;Þ
Those threads cost a lot of money, man. Dig?
paging that lioness of the broadsheet, Helen Thomas!
Frankly, my dear, I don't give a rat's patootie what reporters expct or want.
What is important is that the citizens do not only expect, but demand transparency in their elected officials.
Perhaps every successfully elected official should be made to state, under penalty of perjury, that he will support total transparency in all activities related to to his office.
Then make it stick.
What reporters "report" (ha!) or think is totally irrelevant to me, and has been for decades.
