EXCLUSIVE: This column has learned that Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie are planning a massive 25th anniversary re-recording of We Are the World.
The timing couldnt be better, sadly enough.
The duo is summoning lots and lots of talent from Grammy weekend to stay an extra night Monday Feb. 1 and come to the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. There, they will celebrate a quarter century since Ken Kragen, Richie and Michael Jackson organized the original We Are the World with Quincy.
This time the artists invited include Usher, Natalie Cole, and John Legend. But you can bet that more names will be added shortly and that all the Grammy nominees and participants will be asked to come as well. Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich will produce the event, which will then be turned into a video and single just like it was in 1985. Dont be surprised if Wyclef Jean joins in, along with Sting, Fergie, Alicia Keys, Justin Timberlake and other distinctive voices.

who really cares about those washed up singers.... who?
Bob Geldoff’s a pretty good bloke, isn’t he?
are they going to drag out Jacko’s corpse?
What's happening in Haiti is not funny, but that parody was hilarious.
He was a corpse last time too, wasn’t he?
VOODOO ZOMBIE JACKSON!
Sure, because Africa never had any problems again after that.
I remember Geldoff blasted "We are the World" and the fact that they ordered expensive catering during their recording sessions, and other things like that.
Plus he commented favorably on some famous chick’s legs and took heat from the global state run media for it.
this drama makes them feel better and less guilty for all they’ve got.
I’d just be happy to see how much they donated.
Then I’ll listen.
I applaud their intentions, but can’t they come up with a new and better song? I got so sick of that song after hearing it so many times, and I can’t be the only one.
I won’t give a penny to those sluts and prostitutes of money- especially after jlo called Governor Palin a b*tch/*sshole.
Yea, it sucked the first time, this time it will be even worse due to voters in the US. People are getting pissed and are seeing through all these libs.
This is about as original as Elton John reworking one of his own songs for Diana’s funeral.
why’d he write the 1st We Are The World for again?
And it will be just as God-awful
when/what did JLo say about Sarah?
LOL!!! I know they wanted $$$ but what was the “cause” that time. I forgot.
