It is with the greatest regret, on behalf of our Board, that we must announce that Air America Media is ceasing its live programming operations as of this afternoon, and that the Company will file soon under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code to carry out an orderly winding-down of the business.

You have to admit, their timing is priceless!
They will just move it to NPR....
So typical of the libs. We always wind up paying for their far left, extremist programs. ;)
Say it ain’t so! Bwahaha!
Perfect timing! GOD has an amazing sense of humor! Love it!
I’ve had a hell of a sh!t day...now I’ll be able to go home with a smile.
It’s not surprising that the loony left radio station is out of business when you consider it has to compete with the loons on MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, NY Times, Washington Post, etc. The market for loons on the left are at saturation level.
Great news! msnbc can’t be far behind!
I’m surprised they bothered to stay live for so long after their Chosen One was elected; after all, they would never have need to criticize a Dem. They lived solely for the purpose of demonizing Bush, unlike conservative talk radio, which works on actual issues of concern to voters.
Would be nice for MSNBC and CNN to follow suit...lol
Keep the good news coming!!!
Too late - the biggest rat already abandoned the sinking ship and seated his obnoxious arse in the senate.
Well... har de har har
Obama, Reid, and Pelosi put the final nails into Air America’s coffin.
What is this the forth time for them?
It’s tough to broadcast on radio when your ideas are illogical.
Emotions can only carry you for about 45 minutes on radio.
I can’t wait to try and snap up that corporate name - now that they’ve got some amusing “goodwill” attached to it, some fun games can be played with that (no, nothing illegal, just playing with the small minds on the left).
The very difficult economic environment has had a significant impact on Air America's business. This past year has seen a "perfect storm" in the media industry generally. National and local advertising revenues have fallen drastically, causing many media companies nationwide to fold or seek bankruptcy protection. From large to small, recent bankruptcies like Citadel Broadcasting and closures like that of the industry's long-time trade publication Radio and Records have signaled that these are very difficult and rapidly changing times. Those companies that remain are facing audience fragmentation as a result of new media technologies, are often saddled with crushing debt, and have generally found it difficult to obtain operating or investment capital from traditional sources of funding. In this climate, our painstaking search for new investors has come close several times right up into this week, but ultimately fell short of success.
With radio industry ad revenues down for 10 consecutive quarters, and reportedly off 21% in 2009, signs of improvement have consisted of hoping things will be less bad. And though Internet/new media revenues are projected to grow, our expanding online efforts face the same monetization and profitability challenges in the short term confronting the Web operations of most media companies
When Air America Radio launched in April, 2004 with already-known personalities like Al Franken and then-unknown future stars like Rachel Maddow, it was the only full-time progressive voice in the mainstream broadcast media world. At a critical time in our nation's history when dissent on issues such as the Iraq war were often denounced as "un-American" Air America and its talented team helped millions of Americans remember the importance of compelling discussion about the most pivotal events and decisions of our generation.
Through some 100 radio outlets nationwide, Air America helped build a new sense of purpose and determination among American progressives. With this revival, the progressive movement made major gains in the 2006 mid-term elections and, more recently, in the election of President Barack Obama and a strongly Democratic Congress.
Laws have changed for the better thanks to this revival.....but all the same our company cannot escape the laws of economics. So we intend a rapid, orderly closure over the next few days. All current employees will be paid through today, January 21. A severance package will be offered tomorrow to full-time current employees with more than six months of tenure.
We will strive to assist affiliates and partners in achieving a smooth transition. Starting at 6 pm EST today, we will provide our affiliates, listeners and users a selection of encore programming until 9 pm EST on Monday, January 25, at which time Air America programming will end.
We are proud that Air America's mission lives on through the words and actions of so many former radio hosts who are active today in progressive causes and media nationwide. In the years ahead, as we look back, we should all be proud of our passionate determination to assure that our nation's progressive voice would be heard loud and clear. Through the hard work and dedication of current staff, and those who preceded you, a lasting legacy was forged which will now continue through other voices and venues.
They are all going to need industrial-sized containers of lithium over at DailyKos and DU. This has been one demoralizing week for them. In the immortal words of Homer Simpson - HaHa.
Its like the dems want to get all the bad news out at once.
1. Brown wins in MA
2. USSC rules against McCain/Fiengold
3. Edwards admits love child
4. ObamaCare dies
5. Air America Dies
I wonder if anyone won the dead pool that was running on FR a while back?
That’s a shame ...
Where is sugar daddy Soros when you need him?
Quick, call Obummer! Air America is “too big to fail”. We need to infuse them with about $25 Billion to keep them solvent.
Dang...you beat me posting this info by 2 minutes because I used the search engine first to see if it had already been posted, LOL! I was trolling at DU to enjoy watching their heads explode over the SCOTUS ruling and found the info.
Good riddance to bad, treasonous, lying, “liberal” rubbish.
What else can go badly for the dems this week? Air America was really awful.

What a day.
Just in time for the new Conservative tsunami...
They still own CBS-NBC-ABC-PBS-CNN-AP-Reuters-NYT-TimeWarner etc. But after this week, who cares?
Wow this week just keeps getting better and better.
Air America = another failed Socialist experiment
I think their real problem, was that they didn’t recognize that most folks thought the air in Air-America, was the sort that would more appropriately be used by juveniles with a match.
It’s a good day.
I found it at DU while trolling. They’re in mourning..This is just another reason for me to smile...
Just a prediction:
6. Nancy Pelosi’s botox freezes and she can’t talk.
The only surprise that those Misery Holes of Sorrow and Bitter Rage, were able to actually stay on the air, *this* long.
