Skip to comments.Notice: We have been threatened by a blog pimp

Since you are blocking posting privileges for our readers we are citing you for copyright violation.
One of your posters has re-published an original article in its entirety. This is stealing intellectual property from a non-profit organization. Either pull it down or hear from the lawyers.
You have 24 hours and you are now obligated to prove that it was removed. If you do not respond we will commence with legal action.
The New Media Journal
"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." -- George Orwell
The New Media Journal is a division of BasicsProject.org, a non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)(3) research and education initiative whose mission is the reintroduction of the American citizenry to our constitutional ideology and to educate the public on critical issues facing our nation, chiefly, the threats of radical Islam and the advancing American Fifth Column.
Re: “Until now I was blissfuly ignorant of their existance. lol”
Me too, never heard of them —
I am curious.
How do you know that a particular poster is one of their readers in order to block her?
Why are you blocking them? Are they offensive?
I’ve picked up tons of new sites to visit thanks to Free Republic. I guess this one will remain in obscurity to me forever now. Good riddance.
Thanks for the list ... no wonder most of those sites are going under when they don’t get free advertizing ... it’s been a while since I posted anything - always get beat out by faster (speed dialing posters - LOL) anyway ...
It’s easier to understand if you don’t try to make sense out of it...

Well, the funny thing is our moderators noticed they were violating the copyrights of publishers who had asked us to restrict our posters to excerpts only. They were posting full text on their site, claiming fair use, and then posting an excerpt on FR with a link back to their blog site. Our moderators asked them to link to the original source if they were going to do that, and they refused. Now we get threats. Effem.
Never heard of them.
Maybe if we all add “Salvato” to our taglines for a day or two, he’ll grow weary of googling himself (what’s the internet term for that, anyway?).
A Google oogle?
That sentence doesn't even make sense.
Intellectual suicide for a site wanting to build readership.
Sounds like a publication I wouldn’t want to read anyway.
Another funny thing is the guy who was doing the majority of the posting from said site has an email address from same site. LOL!
He probably posted the (un)referenced offending full text article himself. Notice that he didn’t bother identifying either the screen name of offending poster or the title of the offending article or the URL.
Good luck with your court case, Charlie Brown.
Don’t know who they are so won’t miss them. :-)
Just did a search and found 4 from that site none were of intrest though. So no loss in deleting them.
“Ive picked up tons of new sites to visit thanks to Free Republic.”
Me too. I have hndreds of bookmarks to check into and virtually all of them came from FR.
Not good marketing for New Media Journal.
Is this another one of those idiotic mouth-breathing Leftist rags that only 6 people in Berkley, and 2 in Ithica, bother to read?
“Since you are blocking posting privileges for our readers”
What does this part mean?
New Media Journal, Old Media Attitude.
Never heard of ‘em.
Will keep this in mind!
Oh a bartender eh?
Wow... That’s a whole ‘nuther level of stupid there. Circular firing squad with only one person in the ring.

So this clown gets banned for pimping their own blog and violating copyright while doing so, and NOW they claim "copyright infringement" and threaten to legal action.
A “Stop or I’ll shoot... Myself!” moment.
Should the blog pimp return, it will be amusing to see him hold himself hostage.
Won’t be a problem. Never heard of them. Based on the email you got I have no interest in hearing of them either. They can piss off.
shoot! I stand corrected. Thank you, sir!
He believes himself to be much more clever than he really is.
You said;"That sentence doesn't even make sense."
The way I read it, is Jim blocked or banned some posters from that site from being able to post on Freerepublic. So now that site owner is going to get even by suing Jim if anyone posts his blog articles onto Freerepublic.
It is truly ironic to have a guy who claims that Fair Use allows him to post copyright material on his website without permission of the copyright holder to then turn around and threaten FR for having someone post HIS material on FR. This is too precious. If Gannet or the NY Times or WSJ goes after Salvato, he will have just cooked his own goose with this email to Jim.
Personally, while I do seek to obey copyright laws, and certain am against making money off other living persons writing without permission, I feel that anyone who offers material for viewing on the Internet should do so under a Creative Common license that allows unlimited copying and sharing, as long as the source is noted, and content is not changed.
Some sites do not even allow copying yet it is unreasonable to think you can offer anything on the Web and not have it copied more than once, as your hard drive already has a copy of it before you save an article.
What this New Media Journal did is not only almost incredible, considering they are supposed to be an ideological ally, but it is counterproductive to both their purpose and message. After all, suing your allies for freely spreading a message helped make America strong.
But what bothers me more is Christian ministries who make you a criminal if you share their own self-created material for free, at your material cost, from sermons to songs, or otherwise restrict its dissemination. Sure glad the Bible can yet be had without copyright restrictions in this country, and that its writers did not charge or otherwise restrict for what God gave them.
I guess he sure showed you, huh Jim!
What a maroon...I hope you zotted him while you were at it....
“So I take it this guy reads FR alot?”
Probably coming here to steal stuff for his frick’n’ blog.
Seems like a humble self-effacing guy....
I had a run-in recently with that iloveamerica guy.
The one who posts the 10 words from his Dittos Rush blog.
Just so you will click it and give him blog-hits.
Anyway, I told him it’s bad enough that he is a blog-pimp, but when he steals content from reputable news sources, then that is WAYYYYY too much.
And you let him post that crap here on Free Republic.
This lame-a$$ threat today is maybe a sign of things to come? I still maintain you and the mods nees to kick butt on the out of control blogger issues here at FR.
What part of "Banned" don't you understand?
Did he do the sanctimonious, self-pitying, passive agressive reply thing with you? What a turd.
It takes a lot of gall to post copyrighted material, get called on it and threaten someone else for what you've done. He appears to be a special kind of genius.
A Super Genius....
Not to worry. By the time their stuff is 70 years old we should have this little misunderstanding straightened out. I’ll lay off until then.
( I don't know why, but that Sarah-ism drives the elitists of either side into a drooling frenzy... )
If they don't want more people reading their "stuff," it's OK by me.
I agree. The blogging bit has gotten out of hand. There will be a news article posted and for the next 3 days the same thing posted by blog after blog with their spin of it. Mind numbing.
He’s been on “The O’Reilly Factor” ? LOL.
