Mugged by Ultrasound Why so many abortion workers have turned pro-life.

Abortion rights activists have long preferred to hold themselves at some remove from the practice they promote; rather than naming it, they speak of “choice” and “reproductive freedom.” But those who perform abortions have no such luxury. Instead, advances in ultrasound imaging and abortion procedures have forced providers ever closer to the nub of their work. Especially in abortions performed far enough along in gestation that the fetus is recognizably a tiny baby, this intimacy exacts an emotional toll, stirring sentiments for which doctors, nurses, and aides are sometimes unprepared. Most apparently have managed to reconcile their belief in the right to abortion with their revulsion at dying and dead fetuses, but a noteworthy number have found the conflict unbearable and have defected to the pro-life cause.

In the aftermath of Roe v. Wade, second-trimester abortions were usually performed by saline injection. The doctor simply replaced the amniotic fluid in the patient’s uterus with a saline solution and induced labor, leaving it to nurses to dispose of the expelled fetus. That changed in the late 1970s, when “dilation and evacuation” (D&E) emerged as a safer method. Today D&E is the most common second-trimester procedure. It has been performed millions of times in the United States.

It takes a real sick person to do this kind of job.
How do they live with themselves?

Not so. Abortion workers, like Nazi deathcamp workers in WWII, have high rates of depression, alcoholism and PTSD. Some are able to compartmentalize, but not as many as this suggests.

And how many times was I bashed by other freepers for saying let the ultrasound take care of the abortion issue for you ... I know I have seen it work with real mothers.

I've been pointing this out for years:

Bringing Good Things to Life (ULTRASOUND)
Citizen magazine ^ | June 2003 | Karla Dial
This the Stealth Bomber that is going to zoom in under the pro-death crowd's radar and nuke them... once a woman sees what is really in her womb, it ceases to be a "tissue mass" and becomes... a baby.
 Her baby.

Yes!!! Stand for all life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

But persuasion in a politically charged polluted well is far better when subtle.

My doctor friend says he has seen mothers who want abortion, break down and weep when shown the pictures of their unborn baby. They cannot go forward.

Education it saves freedom.

Abortionists, PP and radical feminists should just petition Congress to shut down medical ultrasound technology as a hindrance to denying personal freedom of choice. Separation of ultrasound and healthcare legislation is necessary so that PP is properly funded for the health of American women. (:

Why feminazis are doing everything they can to have ultrasound banned for mothers and fathers who want to see if their little baby is a boy or a girl.

One of the speakers at the pro-life rally in Washington yesterday said that abortion clinics are required to do an ultrasound (to determine the stage of gestation) but they won't let the mother see it (because she might change her mind about the abortion).

(I wasn't at the rally--saw it on C-SPAN.)

Yep, the hearts and minds are far more important than the religious ARGUMENT. In this case, the ends justify the means. The religious argument has a ready defense from the left, the ultra-sound doesn’t.

Me I no longer participate in abortion rallys, I am convinced technology will fix the problem, something the left wasn’t counting on.

I can’t imagine the convoluted back-flips of delusion a person has to go through to try to pretend that a baby is not a human life. All of these people know they are killing a baby. They know it in their heart. But they do everything they can to try to deny that irrepressible fact.

It is a wonder they don’t all end up insane.

By the same token, abortion pills allow to commit the same crime without a ultrasound, anyone resembling a baby, or an abortuary worker.

Why do you think they are so keen on making pharmacists obey ze orders?
