Moveon In Panic Mode

Dear MoveOn member,

After one bad Senate election, most Democrats in Washington are on the verge of full-fledged retreat.

Everything we've fought for together hangs in the balance. President Obama has signaled he's open to dramatically scaling back health care reform.1 The chairman of the Senate Banking Committee says he might gut the financial reform bill to appease Republicans.2 And on top of all that, the Supreme Court just opened the floodgates of corporate cash on politics!3

We need to show Democrats that we're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore. So MoveOn members are organizing an emergency rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday to urge Democrats to show some backbone—starting with passage of a real health care reform bill.

We need a big turnout to show Democrats we're still waiting on them to deliver the change we voted for—on health care and everything else. Can we count on you to attend?

Yes, I'll be there on Tuesday at 12:00 PM Sorry, I can't make it

The lesson from Massachusetts is that voters are angry and it's time for Democrats to stand up to corporate interests and fight for working families by passing health care reform and taking on Wall Street.

And make no mistake: Democrats still have the ability to pass health care reform and other progressive legislation. They have a larger majority in Congress than Republicans ever did under George W. Bush—and even in Massachusetts, polls show that voters continue to support a bold, populist agenda.4

But it took an unprecedented grassroots movement to elect this President and Congress—and it'll take all of us standing together now to get their attention, and get them to show some backbone.

Can you join the rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday?

Yes, I'll be there: http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/event.html?event_id=100739&id=18687-10385715-YXHvYZx&t=5

Sorry, I can't make it: http://www.moveon.org/r?r=86107&id=18687-10385715-YXHvYZx&t=6

Thanks for all you do.

Moveon states ... “it’s time for Democrats to stand up to corporate interests”.

You mean by nationalizing the Auto Makers, the insurance companies, the banking system, the savings and loans, the mortgage companies, the TSA, etc, etc..

Pretty soon there will be no ‘corporate interests’ left.

You can count on me!!!

Oh, wait! Tuesday? I heard a rumor our local Home Depot is having a preseason grass seed sale. I'm not sure it's true, but I can't take the chance of missing it. I'm pullin' for you though!

Half of the people who voted for O voted for him because he was half black and had a funny name. It made them feel somehow cleansed and cool. About one/fourth voted for him because of his hard left policies. One/fourth actually believed his campaign rhetoric and hated Bush. You do the math.

President Obama has signaled he's open to dramatically scaling back health care reform.

That right there is a flat out lie. Obama may be making noises suggesting backing down but he's giving David Plouffe oversight of senate and house reelection campaigns and heavily pushing health care. (Saying one thing while hiring someone to do the opposite.)

I sort of lumped them in with the 50% who voted for him BECAUSE he was half black and had a funny name. Could have been more specific I guess.

“Progressive” is what marxists call themselves in order to fool people.

It’s incomprehensible that these red SOB’s can walk around in plain daylight calling themseves “Progressive” and even caucas in Congress without a PEEP from the IMBECILES at the RNC.

Pedantic, aren't they?

Yeah, they’ll all be “traditional Democrat constituencies” (like unions and trial lawyers already are) instead.

I called this asshat a three card monte dealer long ago. He follows the same script: tell the people what they want to hear and they never question what you say. Since the media will not hold him to account, he has free reign to pull this stuff off time and again.

Today there was an AP article about the first year of OZEROS reign (of terror). The author, some lefty writer, said he has not been able to meet the progress WE had due to his being a pragmatist! WE, Pragmatist? How about he and his lefty pals in the AP not “we” as in the public. Pragmatic? A joke, this guy is immovable on issues.

MoveOn thinks the Democrats lost because they didn't tax and spend far enough. Let's help them get the message out!

Whoohah!

May I recommend slicing your jugular; perhaps a .45 in the mouth; suffocation can be nice; perhaps hanging would soothe you. Oh well, I tried!

"...[Obama's] giving David Plouffe oversight of senate and house reelection campaigns..."

Yeah, I read that, too. I'm pretty much an electoral neophyte, so let me ask you (or any other wise FReepers), how does that work?

Wouldn't one think that the Democratic State Committees would decide that sort of thing? With some degree of coordination and funding from the Democratic National Committee, natch. But how does Obama, personally, and his hand-picked campaign guy, call the shots all over the countryfor Senate and House campaigns? I mean, don't they involve, surely, States? You know. And Congressional Districts?

I realize this question may be dumb and naive, but so be it. I don't understand how this works.

If I were Dem incumbent in a CD out in the middle of Kansas or Nebraska and I and my Dem. constituency were really allergic to Obama/Plouffe... what happens? Please, somebody, spell this out for me.
