White House Toughens Tone
WSJ ^ | 01/24/10 | Jonathan Weisman

Coming off one of the most difficult weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has beefed up his political staff and is expected to deliver an uncompromising State of the Union address. Aides said Sunday that the White House wasn't making any abrupt policy shifts, even as the message was retooled to focus more sharply on job creation.

If anything, an unfinished agenda from 2009 will grow larger as, in addition to tackling health care and unemployment, the president presses for a bipartisan commission to tackle the budget deficit against resistance from Republicans. ...

The re-emergence of David Plouffe took some Democratic officials by surprise, though officials said he won't have a title and won't be working from the White House. Mr. Axelrod, in emails to The Wall Street Journal, dismissed as "overblown" the speculation that an enhanced role for Mr. Plouffe is a prelude to a shake-up of the political staff or a change of course by the White House. ...

The message Mr. Plouffe is bringing was a collaborative effort by him, White House officials and the leadership of the Democratic National Committee. That message is one of no retreat in the face of polling that shows opposition to the president's push to overhaul health care and discontent with his economic efforts.

Writing in Sunday's Washington Post, Mr. Plouffe said Democrats need to quickly pass a broad health overhaul, get serious about job creation even as they tout the impact of last year's stimulus package, turn up the heat on Republicans over the deficits incurred in the Bush years, and stop grousing about the political climate.

Yeah, I think Plouffe is right. What they really need to win the American people over is a big health care plan. Not the one they have now, a really, really, really big one, 10,000 pages or so, Sanskrit is fine since nobody needs to read it first. Draft all the doctors and nurses into the U.S. Medical Corps, model the health care program of the entire country on the internationally praised one of Cuba, levy prohibitive taxes on The Rich - all Republicans are rich, right? - and utilize community organizations such as ACORN to redistribute the money on the basis of social justice. In memory of Ted Kennedy. It's what The People want.

Ever see a moth orbiting a candle flame?

Mr. T did an awesome job of providing the voice of the tough cop in the animated feature ‘Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs’. Perhaps President Obama could get him to read the State of the Union address while Obama lip syncs it. That would make obama look tough.

I won’t be watching it. I’m sure FR will cover it thoroughly.

The moron does NOT get it. After all that has happened, the idiot still hasn’t a clue.

Nov. 2010 should be big fun.

“We’re going to keep doing what we’ve been doing and hope for a different outcome.” Hmm. That sounds familiar.

Giving David Plouffe control over democrat campaigns nation wide is going to be a disaster for democrats. Most likely they’ll want to get rid of guys like Stupak but they’re fools if they think that district will accept one of Obama’s far left contemporaries. That will all but hand the seat to any republican who mounts a moderate challenge.

White House Toughens Tone

Gonna call Tea Partiers even more vicious names in even louder voices. I'm sure Obama's message will get through then, right?

Me neither. I would get almost physically ill watching more than a 15 second clip of this sanctimonious Communist phony. I'll settle for the short clips where he makes the biggest fool of himself during the speech.

The arrogant asshole is going to self-destruct.

There's nothing worse than a sociopath to whom you cannot say "No," and who NEVER accepts blame for anything.

Obama will be the most hated president in U.S. history before this is finished.

I think Obama has a somewhat HIGHER opinion of himself than you do.

So I claim he’s shooting himself in the HEAD.

Remember, if history is any guide, he’ll get a polling bump out of this. SOTU shows always have that effect, but if the Prez is fundamentally weak, it melts faster than a Life Saver.

Barack Obama has “beefed up” ... the message was “retooled” to “focus more sharply” on job creation.
“tackling” health care and unemployment, the president “presses” to tackle the budget deficit ...

No more arugala, `Mom jeans’ or limpwristing basketballs for this 21st century metroprez.
Meet the new model 2010 `Butch’ Obama: now with amoral fiber and real ingredients.
