Reacting to Mass. Rebellion, White House Beefs Up Outside Political Arm
ABC News ^ | January 23, 2010 | Jake Tapper

Still reeling from the upset victory of Sen.-elect Scott Brown, R-Mass., earlier this week, President Obama is augmenting the political operation at the White House by bringing several key 2008 campaign aides back into the fold.

Senior White House officials tells ABC news that Obama for America campaign manager David Plouffe will soon set up shop at the Democratic National Committee to oversee House, Senate, and gubernatorial races this fall, in what is shaping up to be a difficult political environment for Democrats.

"Plouffe is one of the smartest guys in the business, he has the full trust of the President and his team, and we appreciate any and all help he can give us," White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer said. "This is a very challenging political environment and you want all the best players on the field."

In the wake of the loss of the Massachusetts Senate seat -- the first time a Republican has been elected to represent the Bay State since 1972, when President Obama was 11 -- the president has ordered a review of the Democratic Party's entire political operation.

In addition to the return of top aides such as Plouffe, other mid-level operatives from the 2008 Obama campaign who helped bring candidate Obama victories in Iowa and in Feb. 5 "Super Tuesday" primary states, will be enlisted to work on campaigns to keep expected Democratic losses to a minimum, aides said.(continued)

If David Plouffe is such a smart guy why was it he forgot to tell Obama that if he got elected he should appoint top level first-class minds with impecable criminal records to the various agencies.

Instead, he seems to have thought it enough to put the guy into office without further guidance ~ the result being he's appointed the largest gaggle of third-rate help in American history.

The Plouffters are going to be a disaster for the blue dogs but an advantage for us.

As a total aside: how would you like to go through life with a name like Plouffe?

High school must’ve been a bitch. Of COURSE you’d eventually ally yourself with the most subversive (and queer) segment of the ‘Rat party.

I almost feel sorry for the Ploufester.

Almost.

There’s gonna be a bloodbath within the party. They try replacing Bart Stupak with a Sheila Jackson Lee clone in that district and it will end up in GOP hands.

Obama thinks that he didn’t campaign hard enough and that’s why he lost Massachusetts. We need leadership, not campaigns. Obama is a far-left ideologue that is incapable of changing his policies and incapable of leading. To Obamaa, we are all ‘stupid’ and just can’t see the ‘upsides’ to Socialism and that’s why he thinks we need it forced on us. If we only tried it, he is really convinced we would love it. It seems the outcome in Massachusetts isn’t going to change Obama and assembling the same team from 2008 isn’t going to make any difference, either. Obama isn’t the same candidate he was in 2008. The light came on in America and people can see the emperor has no clothes.

On the other hand, there’s a chance (albeit an outside one) that Sheila Jackson Lee herself may crap out!

Problem: Unemployment. Recession. Terrorist Attacks. Illegal alien incursions. Enormous deficits. Equally enormous bankruptcy and default rates. Collapse of numerous financial institutions. Insolvency in several major regulatory/entitlement programs, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Medicare, Social Security. Documented cases of corruption, influence peddling, and bribery in gov't and gov't-funded organizations Loss of confidence in gov't and economy.

Solution: Hire more PR people.

Not true. The problem the Obamination has is that his "08 team" was working with a blank slate. Obama was a virtual unknown back then and his image could be molded in the press (and was.)

Now the majority of Americans see the Obamination for who he really is and they don't like him, his administration or the commiecrats as a whole.

They can try to reshape Obama's image but there just isn't enough polish to take off the tarnish on Obama.

Well, I am reminded of the old saw “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”

The LIEberal/Socialist/Marxist/Fascist Bastards fooled us in ‘08.

That is not likely to happen again!

The LSMFBs will not be able to lie to us again and get away with it. They will be called out, made to answer for their false pronouncements and held accountable for voting against America.

There will be a lot of ex-Representatives and ex-Senators looking for work in January, 2011!

"Solution: Hire more PR people. "

Good one!

But, that's the mentality of this moronic bunch; their radical policies fail, and they think it's because they didn't lie enough.

Actually, hiring the same dude whom he credits with getting him elected is not too smart, when most people are starting to rue the day he got elected...that would make Ploffe and "accomplice in the crime".

But, whoever this "PR Consultant" is, he'd better be damn good...he's got his work cut out for him....

Run Aground

When Plouffe was selling a guy nobody ever heard of, wrapped in ribbons of "Hope" and "Change," he was a success.

This time he's selling a guy that people have been watching for a year, and he's wrapped in chains named "recession" and "unemployment" and "deficit".

Good luck with that.

You said that Obama isn't the same guy as he was during the 08 campaign.

My only argument (if you really want to call it that) is that Obama is the SAME person he was back in 08 only that the unwashed masses didn't know or want to know just what kind of person he really is.

That's all. He cannot be remade because he has been shown by his own actions as the person he really is. Any attempt to "change" him will fail. The only thing he could do to change the way a majority of people feel about him right now is to run as fast as he can to the center right.

That being said, I don't think Obama is capable of doing that. He will only get harsher and more egotistical as the rest of his term plays out. That's all.

Sorry if you thought I was trying to argue with you.
