With health care reform in a political "timeout," President Obama and Capitol Hill Democrats plan to pursue legislation that would create jobs and strengthen the economy in hopes of winning back a disenchanted public.
Democrats hope to release a jobs bill this week or next, said Sen. Tom Harkin of Iowa. He said it will likely include funding for construction and infrastructure projects.
"We can't just get paralyzed by this health care problem," Mr. Harkin said Friday on Capitol Hill.
Republicans, meanwhile, say they have a plan to create jobs as well.
"Well, the first thing you do is you stop this job-killing health care bill," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on NBC's "Meet the Press. "And you don't pass the energy tax that passed the House earlier this year. Their prescription for new jobs is obviously higher taxes. Don't do that."
Democratic leaders say they're taking time to let the political firestorm sparked by Sen.-elect Scott Brown's win in Massachusetts die down before they make any decisions whether or how to move forward on health reform. They suggest that lawmakers need a break from the grueling, yearlong quest to pass health care reform and help Mr. Obama deliver on his top legislative priority.

The day after the SOTU address by the TOTUS, Both 0bama and Biden will be coming to Tampa to unveil what is believed to be a big "buy-off the bumpkins" project for a "high speed rail line" between Tampa and Orlando.
The proposed "high speed train" will supposedly be built in the middle of I-4 and have stops at Lakeland and Disneyworld.
Overall travel time will be about one hour. Which is about what it is by car at the present time.
It remains to be seen if Governor Charlie Crist will put in another butt-kissing appearance as he did last year when The Annointed One visited Ft. Myers and Crist fawned over him and the just passed Porkulus Bill which Crist envisioned as the state would now be able to have more jobs, pay for healthcare for its citizens and the usual blah-blah-blather.
A small detail Crist, the Great White RINO, seems to wish voters would overlook as he now says he never favored any of 0bama's policies and the Porkulus Bill wasn't something he was in favor of passing.

It will be used to create temp. positions to buy votes this year. Some will be diverted to campaign coffers. They really think they can continue to do as they please.

That’s the only reason they are doing it, is for political reasons, to get people back on their sides. If they really cared, they would have started a long time ago instead of trying to shove a $1 trillion health care package down our throats.

Government creating jobs is a little like bailing water out of the front of the boat and pouring it in the back of the boat.

But. . but. . .but. . .I thought the stimulus plan was supposed to create jobs. Is the Obama administration now admitting that it did NOT? (Of course they aren’t.)
The stimulus (Viagra) plan has created jobs. The Central Communist Government has added thousands of jobs; and, unlike those construction jobs created by the despicable Progressives which are strictly dead end, these go on forever.
Perhaps our government will create a chain of hamburger joints to compete with McDonalds and Burger King. Those employees would be government workers who never worry about business failure or layoffs.

Check the products you purchase in shopping centers. See where they came from. Plants and people are working there. Don't be stupid and pretend you don't know why we have unemployment. This isn't 'business cycle', this unemployment is man-made.
You have put put jobs on the exit lane for 10 years of bipartisan deficit trade deals. Trade is we buy product from you and you buy product from us. It is not we buy product from you and send you jobs, factories and Treasuries in return. That is a deficit generator for both individuals and governments.
One side yells for green jobs and the other for tax cuts, neither of which caused the problem nor will cure it. We have to make more of what we import. Whatever that takes.
Voters will likely continue the lesson of 'Brown-outs' and 'Bush-outs' until jobs come marching home again. Obama, et al get yourselves ready to exit through the revolving door.
