ACORN gotcha man among four arrested for attempting to bug Mary Landrieu's office

The FBI, alleging a plot to wiretap Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu's office in downtown New Orleans, arrested four people Monday, including James O'Keefe, a conservative filmmaker whose undercover videos at ACORN field offices severely damaged the advocacy group's credibility.

FBI Special Agent Steven Rayes alleges that O'Keefe aided and abetted two others, Joseph Basel and Robert Flanagan, who dressed up as employees of a telephone company and attempted to interfere with the office's telephone system.

A fourth person, Stan Dai, was accused of aiding and abetting Basel and Flanagan. All four were charged with entering fedral property under false pretenses with the intent of committing a felony.

A witness from Landrieu's staff said O'Keefe was present in the office and claimed to be "waiting for someone to arrive."

I’d be surprised to hear that this is true.

O’Keefe seemed to me to be too smart to do something illegal. I hope the early reports are wrong.

If he was doing a simple sting video again, and showed up to gain access to the office with telephone repairmen, but never intended to touch the phone, it's still stupid of him to do.

We'll see what really was going on. All that's known now is that there are arrests.

I agree.

I smell a big stinking ACORN rat here.

As is well known, the Democommies are after O’Keefe. I wouldn’t put a frame up past them that may involve the FBI.

After all, the FBI is working for President Zero...maybe a certain FBI agent wants a promotion. A frame up of O’Keefe would certainly advance a personal agenda.

Well when your in a era of corruption people take things into their own hands. With cronies in all areas of the government, from the feds, the courts, the state governments, news media what would you expect. Remember Linda Tripp and the Nixon gang at watergate. It will be to bad but if they go to the watergate model instead of looking at government corruption another injustice will be done. Thank God they cannot blame this on Bush

Joseph Basel, Robert Flanagan, James O’Keefe, and Stan Dai should cinsider themselves lucky that they will be going to Federal Prison and not “The Farm” in Angola.

It could be a set up. It would be hard to believe that he would be involved in doing secret wiretaps since several DA’s looked at prosecuting him for those videos he made.

What better way to shut someone up than by charging them with a federal crime? Your attorney will advise you to not talk about anything until you are cleared.

I am glad Giles wasn’t there too. I can’t imagine what he was thinking. An FBI beef is a bad way to end a promising career.

> Don’t get caught next time.

When exposing ACORN, they performed their stings and THEN
televised it as not to tip off subsequent stings.

With any luck, he’s already gotten damning soundbites from
some of the other Senate rat bastards.

IOW, Landrieu is probably not the first in his ongoing operations
to expose the CORRUPTION within our government.

From the Houston Chronicle:

Activist James O'Keefe, 25, was already in Landrieu's New Orleans office Monday when Robert Flanagan and Joseph Basel, both 24, showed up claiming to be telephone repairmen, according to U.S. Attorney Jim Letten's office. Letten says O'Keefe recorded the two with his cell phone.

Now, why would O'Keefe deliberately create evidence if his team was truly up to no-good? Obviously, he must have been planning to work the cell-phone captured material into some sort of exposé.

O’Keefe is the guy, I believe. And no, he’s no with ACORN and wasn’t with ACORN on this occasion. It sounds like he may have been attempting to get dirt on this senator.

O'Keefe admitted it all, according to the Affidavit of accusation.

He's toast.

You mean like the hard time doled out the dem operatives who recorded Gingrich and passed the illegal wiretap to a dem Senator.

Yep... just like them. They could have done some hard time but were 'saved' by Janet Reno. (Surprise, surprise) Do you think these guys will get the same break from Eric Holder?

Watergate redux?

The times have changed and the Right has a much better media.

If this is a frame up by the Democommies, and I smell a big ACORN rat already, it will be the Leftards and maybe the corrupt FBI/US Attorney would will be jacked against the wall, mark my words.

Not much of a set-up here as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana Jim Letten is a Republican and was appointed to his job by President George W. Bush.

Letten has down a great job in Louisiana in taking down corrupt politicians of both parties.
