Sen. John McCain, the man who brought Sarah Palin to national prominence, is being challenged for re-election in the GOP primary by former U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth. Palin recently announced that she plans to travel to Arizona to campaign on McCains behalf, but posters on her Facebook page are not at all happy with their Sarah:
Sarah, it was fun, but now you are done.
Sarah, your support of McCain shows bad judgment and brings into question the validity of your words. You can forget any political ambition if you support Amnesty which John McCain does. Conservatives dont forget.
You do know Senator McCain is a PROGRESSIVE? It is very disappointing that you are campaigning for him instead of J.D. Hayworth. McCain needs to go!
Sorry to hear that you are supporting McCain. Up to now, I thought you were part of the solution, but youve shown yourself to be part of the problem.
McCain!? Are you kidding me? Time to pick a side, Sarah Are you with the people, or against them?
I agree with those who advise you not to campaign for Senator McCain. He really doesnt represent the views of grassroot conservatives. He represents those in the GOP who have too often been willing to compromise on principle, or even worse, have failed to really understand basic conservative principles.
McCain used Palin like a cheap tool to keep from getting beat worse than Reagan did to Mondale. His staff mocked her and showed no respect. Now McCain is using her again like a cheap tool and this time she is willingly doing it under the guise of loyalty. As long as McCain is the face of the GOP, conservatives are irrelevant. Palin is playing politics and this goes against what she supposedly represents. She helps elect McCain, shes done.
I respect your loyalty to McCain, Sarah, but he really is using you. You need to do what you are obligated to do for him, and then run as far away from him as possible. Hes widely despised in the Conservative movement, and youll be hurting yourself badly with your support base if you do more than offer your token support or speak on his behalf.
McCain is not a commonsense candidate. If you support him your future as a conservative candidate is over.
Another day ~ another appeal to our girl from Wasilla: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not follow through with your plan to campaign for John McCain. In the insightful words of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman: Big mistake. Big. Huge. To do so will destroy your credibility, have your enemies carping: I told you so, and leave your fans devastated.
Thats just a small sampling of some 2,500 comments, and I have to admit to being surprised by the vehemence and near-unanimity of that sentiment. It makes me think that McCain might eventually have real trouble in the Arizona primary.
Blonde moment
Palin has shown she is no more a conservative than McAmnesty.
Heh... they wish. The people posting on Facebook are liberal trolls. This is more of the politics of personal destruction, to create a reality that doesn’t exist.
At least she wasn't caught hiking in the Appalachians!
/s
my father in law gave me her book to read. I’m giving it back. I don’t care to read it. I hope Jim Demint doesn’t fall on the sword.
I’m curious to see how many were trolls posting those comments. Last time I checked, her average post on Facebook receives close to a thousand comments so picking and choosing ten or so negative ones could be easy if that was your agenda.
McCain picked Palin. Why are some people so surprised that he picked someone that agreed with him on most issues?
Without McCain....Palin would be UNKNOWN! (And, with Palin, McCain will be ????? - replay Pres election 2008!) I’m not sure she’s running for ANYTHING....so keep your knickers unwound....
let’s hear what she has to say. I like a woman that is loyal. My wife is behind me even when I’m a jerk (lets me have it privately. )
That’s a tough one. Personal loyalty vs. personal beliefs. I doubt she made the choice with her future in mind and decided she owed mcCain. FWIW, she’s also backing the wrong horse in the Texas governor race. She’s back perry out of loyalty and friendship but Medina (sp?) is the real conservative and could actually win if Palin endorsed her and increased her name recognition.
I’m irritated, but willing to forgive.
Especially if McKennedy gets his RINO butt kicked out and he has go and live with his bimbo daughter.
Could be Sarah wanted to get in good with the establishment Republicans should she herself choose to run for office later.
Do you know any Palin fans who are happy that she's campaigning for McCain, particularly in a primary?
Now there's an understatement.
I dont care about any Facebook postings. If she endorses McCain she is a fake and not to be trusted, even as a dog catcher. I’m tired of conservative posers.
No one is considering the possibility of contractual obligations as well?
BTW, Medina is no Conservative, she is an open borders Libertarian at best.
You're delusional.
How many here did during the last election? If you don't know the reasoning, it is hard to make a judgment. For all we know, there is a contractual obligation.
Sarah's a genuine person, capable of backing up (past) commitments, even though she'd much rather skip them.
Stories like these (quoting anonymous sources on a blog), hardly tell the true story.
Do yourself a favor, spend a few hours and find out what kind of family life Sarah came from, what kind of woman she is today and make up your own mind and don't let others make it up for you as that's very shortsighted.
This is the best reason for all politicians to keep their endorsements to themselves. We don’t pay any attention to them anyway when we vote.
Congratulations! That’s worthy of a “most hysterical comment of the month” nomination.
By your “logic” Reagan wasn’t a conservative because he campaigned in 20 states for Ford and chose Bush-41 to be his VP.

Last I checked, McCain is the only reason anyone outside of Alaska even knows who Palin is.
“This is more of the politics of personal destruction”
There’s an easy solution for Sarah. Just agree to campaign for Juan, if he gets through to the general. Say he’s a good guy, but that she’ll let the voters of AZ decide.
Easy button. I hope she pushes it. Otherwise her conservative bona fides will take a shot.
I still say 400 people lined up at McCains office in Phoenix, waiting for their $50.00 an hour lettuce picking jobs would make national headlines.
It's kinda like those who voted for Sarah only had their own John F. Kerry moment, so ro speak: "I voted for McCain but I didn't."
“Last I checked, McCain is the only reason anyone outside of Alaska even knows who Palin is.”
Right. But Palin needs to decide who she is NOW.
We all knew this was coming, and yes even I was initially upset and posted a vanity about it. But at the same time, I also realized that in no way should it be held against her, unless of course she starts stumping for McCain cronies such as Crist.
In this particular case, Sarah's endorsement carries no more weight than a Bush endorsement of McCain. I trust that the people of AZ will make the right decision, Sarah will learn that the Tea Party movement is about getting rid of statist incumbents from BOTH parties, not just the Dems, and she'll be a stronger person/candidate because of it.
Besides, we all know that Sarah is a woman of her word. If she said she was going to endorse and campaign for McCain, then she's going to do it. She's not going to fret over what other people say or think, and that's what wins me over with her.
Dems just issued a memo detailing how to split the GOP, and FReepers are sadly falling for it.
So I guess when McCain chose her as VP, you said "Wow, McCain is the ultimate conservative, I looooooove him!"
Get a grip.
“For all we know, there is a contractual obligation.”
I too have a contractual obligation. To the Constitution of the United States of America. And my contract says I wont vote for a fake conservative for any reason.
Too bad, you’ll miss out on a wonderful book.
Did you criticize her when she was actually his running mate?
Ooooh, that's far more scarier than an endorsement.
Palin is the only thing that brought life to McCain's sinking campaign. She energized the base and took a relentless shellacking in the media.
She did her part and owes McCain nothing at all. Her endorsement has no upside for her; it was a stupid move.
We had that happen with the Rockefeller Wing when Barry Goldwater was nominated. They walked away. We don't even have any Republicans like them anymore ~ sure, some RINOs, but not the Rockefeller type. People remembered and made sure to cut them deep if they tried surfacing. That helped get us Ronald Reagan.
Walking away is a kiss of death ~ to be avoided if possible.
What we need is for McCain to STEP ASIDE NOW to give someone other than JD a shot.
Right now, we don't know her reasons, and although some have started talking, who as actually filed paperwork to run against McCain that she had an alternative choice in supporting? Right now, the two other Conservative options, Hayworth and Shaddig have not officially even filed.
Agree. I only contributed after she was picked. He being older, the odds were he wouldn’t do full term.
I know thats bad, but...
I’m only donating to the candidate and not the party.
The endorsement of the over-the-hill Rino is the biggest reason for doubt about her political savvy I’ve had so far.
Uh, no they are not. I’m one of them and I’m pretty conservative.
I concur. I don't give a chit if she did promise.
McQueeg is a PROGRESSIVE!
“Did you criticize her when she was actually his running mate?
Ooooh, that’s far more scarier than an endorsement.”
I never supported Palin, I never trusted her to hold such a high office, just my gut feeling.
Especially when there is a far better candidate seeking the nomination in the primary.
OK, but that's history.
A lot has happened since then, including the conspicuously disgraceful manner in which Mr. McCain left Sarah to the media wolves as they circled and attacked.
Yes, he brought her to the national spotlight, but that certainly wasn't done as any sort of favor to her. Everything... EVERYTHING John McCain does is done for the sole purpose of benefitting John McCain.
Sarah owes the man precisely NOTHING.
Palin made it rather clear she wasn’t interested in a third party. If she plans on a POTUS run, she will have to kiss the ring of the RNC; but I believe she will remain true to her convictions. Just because you sleep in a barn don’t make you a cow.
Question for Palinistas. What will you say when... ...Palin endorses John McCain?
