His Genius Is Wasted On You (Mark Steyn: The Perils Of All-Consuming Presidential Narcissism Alert)
National Review ^ | 1/26/2010 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 01/26/2010 7:11:38 PM PST by goldstategop

The United States is too dumb to thrive:

Absolutely amazing poll results from CNN today about the $787* stimulus package: nearly three out of four Americans think the money has been wasted. On second thought, they may be right: it's been wasted on them.

That's what it says at the time of writing, by the way: a $787 stimulus package. Presumably Joe Klein's editors will get around to correcting that at some point, but just for the record let me say that I would have been all in favor of a $787 stimulus package. At any rate, Mr Klein concludes with two "thoughts":

So, two thoughts:

1. The Obama Administration has done a terrible job explaining the stimulus package to the American people...especially since there have been very few documented cases of waste so far.

2. This is yet further evidence that Americans are flagrantly ill-informed...and, for those watching Fox News, misinformed.

It is very difficult to have a democracy without citizens. It is impossible to be a citizen if you don't make an effort to understand the most basic activities of your government. It is very difficult to thrive in an increasingly competitive world if you're a nation of dodos.

Having elected the Smartest Administration of All Time, the Obammysoxers are understandably drawn to the notion that the problem right now is that you knuckledragging rubes are too dumb to understand all he's done for you. If I were Mr Klein, though, I'd surely be smart enough to wonder if stating it quite so explicitly is really the way to go.

The One's genius is wasted on the rubes. Who are too stupid too appreciate all he's done for them! No one ever says "NO" to the Obamessiah! But they have and therein lies the internal contradictions showing up the hollowness of a President deeply in love with himself. Heck, even Joe Klein, I bet can't begin to explain the perils of all-consuming presidential narcissism.

I think one of Obama’s problems is he cannot concentrate with all those media heads up his arse crowding out his own head. It must be like a stuffed phone booth in there.

It's amazing that some of these people can walk and breathe at the same time (or perhaps he has to stop walking every couple of steps). So his argument is that unemployement didn't get above 8% and Obama is lying about the the effect of the stimulus package? Does he really expect anyone with a few functioning brain cells (which excludes the vast majority of liberals) to believe that the stimulus worked as intended but it just wasn't explained well enough that it has? He really needs to get out more and catch up on the news outside of his soundproof chamber.

Must be another full court press on this bit of disinformation. Joe Klein pulled his head out of the Obamasauce long enough to say the same thing yesterday.

If you missed Glenn Beck today try to watch the repeat at 2 am EST. Glenn does a hilarious number on Joe Klein.

Mr. Klein is obviously being paid much to exorbitant a salary to write his clueless column.

Anyone out in the real world of middle class America is fearful for his job, concerned his life’s savings is either going to crash and burn if he leaves it in the market, or watch it melt away from inflation caused by run-away government spending if he leaves it in bonds or cash.

Creating jobs is not rocket science. You cut taxes, cut government spending, cut government regulations, and get out of the way of private enterprise.

Middle America is getting a good look at life under massive socialist government benefit policies: low job growth, high unemployment, high energy costs, and decreasing benefits.

Gas prices will be significantly higher by the time of the November elections.

Remind your friends to thank a liberal by voting for a conservative.

I challenge these drooling liberal buffoons to name one, just one, worthwhile tangible example of something - anything - that we have gotten for the $787 billion.

At least in the depression days when they spent money the country got some tangible things out of it, such as Hoover Dam and the Golden Gate bridge.

I’m of the opinion that Obama’s intellectualism, like everything else, has been vastly overrated. I don’t doubt he’s smart (if often politically tone-deaf), but I’ve seen nothing that suggests he is the philosopher-king his groupies want us to believe he is.

BTW, in terms of sheer “book smarts”, I vote for Herbert Hoover as arguably the smartest Prez ever. In terms of policy wonk and political guile, I’d pick Nixon. Grudgingly, I also have to give Clinton high marks in both areas.

What you have here is a 48 year old college radical who has gotten away with conning powerful left wing white people all of his life. His remarkable luck is comparable to a man who wins 100 million in the super lotto, then comes back 6 months later, and wins it again.

Obama is a child, like Chauncy Gardiner. He never grew up, because he never had to. It is really quite a remarkable story. He was spoon fed leftist radicalism from his late teens to the exclusion of anything else. He holds a degree from Columbia, yet not one student lays claim to having known him. My guess? A made to order degree with few reqirements. In all likelihood some perverse form of independent study.

Harvard Law is the real kicker. Obama was just at the right place at the right time. Black uprisings over a larger share of the professorial pie was the rule of the day. Up steps Obama, and he is handed the editorship of the Review. We know it wasn’t for scholarship.Obama without a teleprompter is like a drunken Socrates with a harelip. A stuttering, stammering jackass, who can’t hold a cogent thought.Harvard provost: “Mr. Obama, here is your second winning lottery ticket. Have a good life”

The only real questions I have regarding this child reprobate is how he was hooked up to the Chicago Machine, and later, George Soros. That will have to wait, because lawyers have removed 90% of his records. He has yet to walk on water, like Chauncy Gardiner, but don’t rule it out. The devil might have a few tricks left.

...”I’m of the opinion that Obama’s intellectualism, like everything else, has been vastly overrated. I don’t doubt he’s smart”...

I doubt he’s very smart. Affirmative Action and EEOC preferences go a long way when you have 50% more melanin in your skin than typical white folks....

The only real questions is how Ohaha hooked up to the Chicago Machine, and later, George Soros.

STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE Obama came to town to deliver a speech at a charity dinner for "children in poverty" at the pricey, exclusive Mandarin Oriental Hotel----but also to pursue another, less high-minded, but more momentous, objective: to begin the process picking Hillary Clinton’s pocket.

The conference room belonged to George Soros. After talking to Soros for an hour about his 2008 bid for the White House, Obama walked down the hall and found assembled a dozen of the city’s heaviest-hitting Democratic fund-raisers: investment banker *Hassan Nemazee, Wall Street power Blair Effron, private-equity hotshot Mark Gallogly, hedge-fund manager Orin Kramer. Most had been big-time John Kerry backers in 2004. Most had a connection to the Clintons. All were officially uncommitted for 2008.

+====================================

* Charges of fraud, dated September 2, 2009 stated that "Hassan Nemazee to obtain a $100 million loan, represented to HSBC that he had $89 million in Treasury Notes, with a current market value of more than $125 million, in a specified brokerage firm account; submitted a supposed agreement from the brokerage firm with forged signatures, false addresses, and false telephone numbers; used a mail drop; and submitted fabricated brokerage statements." Nemazee defrauded a total of three banks--- including Bank of America---- out of $292 million in loan proceeds.
