North Korea fires more artillery: report

(Reuters) -
SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea fired more artillery in the direction of a disputed naval border with South Korea on Wednesday, Yonhap news agency said, hours after the rivals had an initial exchange that stoked regional security tensions.
North Korea said the earlier firing was part of routine military drills and it would fire more into the waters that were inside its territory.

I think the North wants a war, a conventional one at least with the south. I bet they are hedging bets that Bambi won’t do anything to stop a localized conventional war between the two Koreas.

If the Norks use those 10’s of thousands of pieces of artillery they have pointed at Seoul, it would be devastating within a half hour. A non-conventional response may be appropriate under these circumstances. I think the Norks are stupid, but not this crazy. Causing some Iron rain in one of the most densely populated cities in the world would probably make the Haiti earthquake look like a cakewalk.
Yes, it’s that serious and that’s why we don’t want this escalating.

You’re right but don’t forget that about 75% of the NK army is typically within 10 miles of the border, ALL the time. Hopefully someone is watching satellites to see if they are loading scuds and artillery instead of watching polar bears.

They are the loudest paper tiger on the planet. The only threat to NK is that they may sell nuclear materials to Iran and other terrorist organizations. That concern is legitimate. There is no conventional threat from NK to anybody. In a conventional war, they'd just bleed on us a little then collapse.
On a Christmas Eve a 3 Star came down to wish us a Merry Christmas. Then he said the NKs were massed on the border and to expect 75% causalities if they came across.
They have an impressive array of biological and chemical weapons. They also have an impressive amount of artillery within range of NK.
