OK, no doubt Obama's speech was full of glaring inaccuracies, and ridiculous viewpoints, and yawning Harry Reid with a couple of bones thrown toward the Republicans. The end of his speech was filled with some inspirational rhetoric about the spirit of America, that will probably mean nothing substantive. However, and I think I may be blasted for this, but did the Republican response look like an infomercial complete with pre-rehearsed jokes? It seems like the only thing missing was the Power Juicer product. It seemed fake. The setting, in my humble opinion, was quite ridiculous, and makes the Republicans looks like small beans compared to the President and his audience. I would have preferred Bobby Jindall popping out of a closet. It would be great for someone who is articulate, not that the Gov of Virginia wasn't articulate, but someone who can show that our philosophy of conservatism doesn't have to be sugarcoated for it to have merit. It stands on its own.
Am I wrong?
yes...and no. That’s what these things usually are.

“Am I wrong?”
Indeed.
Yes, you’re wrong.
The GOP response was sheer genius, an upbeat speech before a diverse and appreciative audience in a historic location.
Far better than the usual boring chat by some lonely guy in an empty room.
The response lacked passion. I wish it would have represented a little more of the anger that Americans feel towards this administration and Congress.
Yes you are wrong.
WEird, where’s your write up of Obama’s piss poor speech.?
I liked the live crowd, liked the “protect the innocent lives” pro-life line. Mike Steele is probably sad it was included as it might turn off the “Scuzzfavor” rinos.
MUCH better than previous years.
I agree! That was horrible. It sounded as staged and half-hour-infomercial as Huckabee’s weekend show on Fox. Probably the worst response I’ve ever seen. It’s so frustrating I’m sick.
Yes, you’re wrong. It was an excellent speech and in fact, was much more presidential than the failed One.
His speach was as vanilla as his acceptance speach on election night.
Is this the best we have?
I thought it was great to have the crowd. We should have thought of that a long time ago. I think they will probably have an audience in the response much of the time going forward.
The GOP ws never all that good in countering SOTU speeches
I think McDonnell was upbeat and kudos for mentioning the Terrorists
Does the fact it was held in Richmond, VA mean any historical significance?
It was rhetorically speaking, a great speech well delivered. However I don’t believe a word he says and most of his premises are flat-out wrong.
Welcome to FReeRepublic.
Yes, you are wrong. Now if you would take a moment to donate a few dollars to our fundraiser, someone will explain why you are wrong about the Republican response.
Thanks.
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT. For the first time since Reagan the GOP came to the table prepared to the nines. The major Achilles heal of the republicans has historically been their absolute disastrous use of mass media. They crafted a tight, upbeat, hopeful, visionary message and for ONCE did it FOR THE CAMERA.
The only reason Obama was elected was that the democrats have a mastery over mass media stage craft. McDonnell was superb. Confident, upbeat and most importantly hitched a ride on the Brown rocket and gave the Brown victory a booster rocket. I almost can’t believe the inept GOP has gotten their shite together so quickly.
Some people have to criticize everything. Give them a break.
