At roughly 9:48pm EST, in the midst of President Obama's first State of the Union address he begged us to "let him know!"
The president was defending his push for his vision of universal health care when he threw down the challenge in a speech that seemed strangely and wholly disconnected from the experience of the average American family.
As far as expectations for the State of the Union the president's speech was a sizable failure.
By my count President Obama made several significant policy pivots -- for the first time he advocated the use of nuclear power, domestic drilling, clean coal, capital gains tax cuts, spending freezes, and called on Congress to "tighten their belts" just as American families are being forced to do.

Obama is not connected to being a human being; much less to the families of Americans.

Apparently he recognizes that he has hopelessly lost the Democrat votes that put him office, and figures he better start sucking up to Republicans in hopes that he can scrounge up some votes there.
ON OUR NAVELS? ‘S
A state of the union address should be uplifting. When this was over I didn’t feel to good.
The spending freeze I'd like to see is cutting off all foreign aid. And give America aid first.
Barry is still on the “everything is Bush’s Fault” hobbyhorse. I can’t believe has an enormous, expensive team of P.R. handlers and this is the best they can come up with. Not as irritating as Clinton, but more feebly naive. Sounded like a Jimmy Carter on steroids.
LOL.
That WOULD be better than the eye hazard of watching his mug.
I didnt watch, I am not interested in anything he has to say...however, there are polls on both CNN and MSNBC and I guess folks there think he was great. Maybe we should all vote.
It’s about time someone tells it like it is. It was a horrible speech...probably the worse SOTU speech EVER. I can’t believe what the pundits are saying about how great his speech was...guess they’re drinking that kool-aid again.
Not all. A good chunk of it is aimed, with some success, at making foreign governments more willing to let us use their soil for our military and intel operations, and more willing to share their own intel with us.
On the Fox coverage, there was a camera shot of John McCain telling Lindsey Graham “Blame Bush” in response to one of 0’s “past eight years” comments. Then he repeated it. Cracked me up.
‘”tighten their belts” just as American families are being forced to do.’
Yeah that Michell is really setting an example and that Pelosi too — $400,000 trip to Copenhagen on the tax payer’s dollar. Reason? No reason.
If the American public doesn’t wise up, they never will and they will be the cash cow for every entitlement, every junket, everything owed to the elites.
Chris Matthews actually said he forgot Obama was black for an hour. Some stupidity should require classes, a background check, and a permit.
Always follow the money.
Let’s see permits for, say, a half dozen new nuclear power plants issued ASAP without any possibility of funny stuff. Only then will I start considering that 0bama isn’t merely indulging in more of his trademark dishonesty.
I've often 'forgotten' that 0bama is 'black'. I've never forgotten that he is a member of the Left lunatic fringe of the Degenerative Party.
NO, HE DID NOT. He said:
That means building a new generation of safe, clean nuclear power plants in this country. It means making tough decisions about opening new offshore areas for oil and gas development.
So, rather than accepting that present nuclear power technology is safe enough to use he holds out for a 'new generation'. By his standards that new generation may never arrive and, therefore, will not be implemented under his presidency.
And he did not advocate for offshore drilling. He said we have to make tough decisions about offshore drilling. The 'tough decision' is, "Gee, I'm sorry, it might not be politically expedient, but I am going to make the tough call and continue to forbid offshore drilling."
As usual, his language is Orwellian.
Maybe make that the Degenerate Party.
0bama is so mid-20th Century. Unfortunately for him, there's fewer all the time who'll buy his doublespeak.
Thanks for the ping!
Seems like so many super tankers full of money are flying so many directions—all into the elite’s pockets . . .
what else do you see on that score?

To continue your thought from above: Notice that these “key words” created the Graham's support for cap and Tax: Stating he will support new nukes and drill offshore. But will his administration's actions match the words that subverted Graham?
“The spending freeze I’d like to see is cutting off all foreign aid.”
Yup.
Agreed.
Make no mistake, an Obama "gift" is going to do us as much good as the horse at Troy. Obama knows he can "allow" all kinds of drilling, coal, nuclear, whatever, and then tax all of them to death later. I hope I am wrong, but I think Dems will still have at least 51 senate votes (counting Plugs in case of a tie) next year.

The State of Dillusion speech???
A gathering of fools with no will of their own.
good points — there’s a gigantic difference between what he said and actually advocating anything significant in either area
we should be allowing maximum use of our best domestic energy sources and enabling a major push on nuclear power (just get the flippin’ govts out of the way!)
let economics and markets determine what happens without ridiculous govt. impediments, delays, and red tape
He didn’t say much about the state of the union. Mostly blamed Bush and said, “I never said the change would be easy.”
Guessimation: He was lying through his teeth and his Progressive plans and those of his bank rollers/handlers will proceed.
Again? They never stopped.
Also, he never said drilling had to be off OUR shores. He has already given a hefty chunk of change to Brazil (another leftist paradise) to drill off (their) shore, so that they can then sell it to us, thereby giving them money for their leftist project but changing nothing for the US.
I have this Obama thing licked.
I don’t believe anything he says, at any time, on any subject.
Zero is worse than a liar. He is a Bull$#!++er. A liar cares about the truth, and tries to conceal it. Zero doesn’t care ... he’ll do anything, say anything ... true, half-true, distorted, outright false ... doesn’t matter ... it’s all about furthering his agenda: 1) Self aggrandizement 2) Destroy America.
Easy one Quix. It was all LIES!
........for the first time he advocated the use of nuclear power......
And who will benefit? He and Rahm and Axlerod

A current passport.
NO DOUBT OF THAT . . . before the speech!
“doesnt matter ... its all about furthering his agenda: 1) Self aggrandizement 2) Destroy America.”
So far, he has been a lot more successful at #2.
Take the SOTU speeches with a grain of salt. He called for Republican ideas on health reform. But he didn’t mention two different democrat bills passed and hung in the two houses of congress. Before those were passed last summer Obama said the same thing in a TV address, about Republicans coming up with ideas. It was meaningless because he couldn’t and can’t pass a bill in the liberal House that has republican ideas. That point was missed in his speech.
This is all show. He thinks we are stupid
most probably.
God’s surprises will catch up with them. Not sure when.
got that covered . . . in it’s own pocket.
And doesn't particularly want to include republican ideas in bills even if they could pass, unless he thinks he will get a huge concession (e. g. crap and trade) in return.
