Obama's Sorry State of the Union Speech
FOX NEWS ^ | 01.28.2010 | Kevin McCullough

At roughly 9:48pm EST, in the midst of President Obama's first State of the Union address he begged us to "let him know!"

The president was defending his push for his vision of universal health care when he threw down the challenge in a speech that seemed strangely and wholly disconnected from the experience of the average American family.

As far as expectations for the State of the Union the president's speech was a sizable failure.

By my count President Obama made several significant policy pivots -- for the first time he advocated the use of nuclear power, domestic drilling, clean coal, capital gains tax cuts, spending freezes, and called on Congress to "tighten their belts" just as American families are being forced to do.

Let’s see permits for, say, a half dozen new nuclear power plants issued ASAP without any possibility of funny stuff. Only then will I start considering that 0bama isn’t merely indulging in more of his trademark dishonesty.

Chris Matthews actually said he forgot Obama was black for an hour.

I've often 'forgotten' that 0bama is 'black'. I've never forgotten that he is a member of the Left lunatic fringe of the Degenerative Party.

for the first time he advocated the use of nuclear power, domestic drilling...

NO, HE DID NOT. He said:

That means building a new generation of safe, clean nuclear power plants in this country. It means making tough decisions about opening new offshore areas for oil and gas development.

So, rather than accepting that present nuclear power technology is safe enough to use he holds out for a 'new generation'. By his standards that new generation may never arrive and, therefore, will not be implemented under his presidency.

And he did not advocate for offshore drilling. He said we have to make tough decisions about offshore drilling. The 'tough decision' is, "Gee, I'm sorry, it might not be politically expedient, but I am going to make the tough call and continue to forbid offshore drilling."

As usual, his language is Orwellian.

0bama is so mid-20th Century. Unfortunately for him, there's fewer all the time who'll buy his doublespeak.

Seems like so many super tankers full of money are flying so many directions—all into the elite’s pockets . . .

what else do you see on that score?

To continue your thought from above: Notice that these “key words” created the Graham's support for cap and Tax: Stating he will support new nukes and drill offshore. But will his administration's actions match the words that subverted Graham?

Yup.

It was messy, incoherent, disorganized, and most regrettably defiant.

Agreed.

for the first time he advocated the use of nuclear power, domestic drilling, clean coal, capital gains tax cuts, spending freezes, and called on Congress to "tighten their belts" just as American families are being forced to do.

Apparently he recognizes that he has hopelessly lost the Democrat votes that put him office, and figures he better start sucking up to Republicans in hopes that he can scrounge up some votes there.

Make no mistake, an Obama "gift" is going to do us as much good as the horse at Troy. Obama knows he can "allow" all kinds of drilling, coal, nuclear, whatever, and then tax all of them to death later. I hope I am wrong, but I think Dems will still have at least 51 senate votes (counting Plugs in case of a tie) next year.

good points — there’s a gigantic difference between what he said and actually advocating anything significant in either area

we should be allowing maximum use of our best domestic energy sources and enabling a major push on nuclear power (just get the flippin’ govts out of the way!)

let economics and markets determine what happens without ridiculous govt. impediments, delays, and red tape

He didn’t say much about the state of the union. Mostly blamed Bush and said, “I never said the change would be easy.”

I watched about 10 minutes and had to leave the room. His voice is entirely too grating.

Guessimation: He was lying through his teeth and his Progressive plans and those of his bank rollers/handlers will proceed.

Also, he never said drilling had to be off OUR shores. He has already given a hefty chunk of change to Brazil (another leftist paradise) to drill off (their) shore, so that they can then sell it to us, thereby giving them money for their leftist project but changing nothing for the US.
