How in the world did she manage to edit her diary after the war when she died in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp a month before the camp was liberated????
From the Official Anne Frank House website:
"When I returned and after I had the news that my children would not be coming back, Miep gave me the diary which had been saved by, I should say, a miracle. It took me a very long time before I could read it. And I must say, I was very much surprised about the deep thoughts that Anne had, her seriousness, especially her self-criticism. It was quite a different Anne than I had known as my daughter. She never really showed this kind of inner feeling. She talked about many things, criticized many things, but what her real feelings were, that I could only see from the diary." -
Otto Frank
Otto begins reading Anne's diary. It is a revelation to him, because he realizes how little he knew about his daughter.
In her diary, Otto reads about the plan Anne had to publish a book after the war about the time she spent in the Secret Annex. She had even edited and rewritten a large portion of her original diary. Initially, Otto Frank feels uncertain about the idea but he finally decides to fulfill his daughter's wish.
