Statement from James O'Keefe
BigGovernment.com ^ | Jan 29, 2010 | James O'Keefe

Posted on 01/29/2010 8:29:50 AM PST by BAW

The government has now confirmed what has always been clear: No one tried to wiretap or bug Senator Landrieu’s office. Nor did we try to cut or shut down her phone lines. Reports to this effect over the past 48 hours are inaccurate and false.

As an investigative journalist, my goal is to expose corruption and lack of concern for citizens by government and other institutions, as I did last year when our investigations revealed the massive corruption and fraud perpetrated by ACORN. For decades, investigative journalists have used a variety of tactics to try to dig out and reveal the truth.

I learned from a number of sources that many of Senator Landrieu’s constituents were having trouble getting through to her office to tell her that they didn’t want her taking millions of federal dollars in exchange for her vote on the healthcare bill. When asked about this, Senator Landrieu’s explanation was that, “Our lines have been jammed for weeks.” I decided to investigate why a representative of the people would be out of touch with her constituents for “weeks” because her phones were broken. In investigating this matter, we decided to visit Senator Landrieu’s district office – the people’s office – to ask the staff if their phones were working.

On reflection, I could have used a different approach to this investigation, particularly given the sensitivities that people understandably have about security in a federal building. The sole intent of our investigation was to determine whether or not Senator Landrieu was purposely trying to avoid constituents who were calling to register their views to her as their Senator. We video taped the entire visit, the government has those tapes, and I’m eager for them to be released because they refute the false claims being repeated by much of the mainstream media.

It has been amazing to witness the journalistic malpractice committed by many of the organizations covering this story. MSNBC falsely claimed that I violated a non-existent “gag order.” The Associated Press incorrectly reported that I “broke in” to an office which is open to the public. The Washington Post has now had to print corrections in two stories on me. And these are just a few examples of inaccurate and false reporting. The public will judge whether reporters who can’t get their facts straight have the credibility to question my integrity as a journalist.

The contention that they sought access to the telephone closet was not an invention of the "state run media", it was in the official police report. It was a contention of Witness 1 to the police.

The Feds are going to need more than 1 witness.

Pelican State ping

It’s interesting how Landrieu is unusually silent about the matter.

I think that with Brietbart behind him, he may at least stand a chance.

I fear you may be correct however.

Cheers,

“going into the equipment closets would be a no no.”

As would be impersonating a phone repair person. But how serious are these offenses? Are they felonies?

Seems like the more serious charges were dreamed up by the libRATS.

“I am not excusing James’ tactics here, but I remain convinced that it is possible the feds would have pulled in all of his audio and video under one pretense or another.”

This is a little bit 24ish, but too bad he didn’t send the digital videos to another phone - before the took that phone away.

“If it’s not true, its not the mainstream media’s fabrication, but either the arresting officer or the witness.”

Well - that means they only had 2 or 3 major errors/lies in their stories vs. 3 or 4. And oh by the way, there is no qualitative difference between a RAT’s Senate staff (of which the witness is one) and the RAT press. So whether the RAT staff made up a charge or the RAT press, falacious charges were FLYING these last 72 hours from the RATs.

We’ll see if the Feds have any case whatsoever against these guys.

“It’s just scary how the Democrats have the media as the willing lapdog accomplices when it comes to spreading lies, smears and disinformation. A democrat can say any lie no matter how outrageous and the media will dutifully print it.”

If it was painfully clear before it certainly is now.

dimocRAT party = RAT MSM propoganda press

They are just different departments of the same party.

“Al Sharpton was arrested. Didn’t seem to hurt his popularity with the left media.”

In fact it probably enhanced it...but conservatives are treated like dirt, with incredible couble standards. Sickening.

One would think they could have used a better method.

How about setting up a table on the street outside of her office (with a phone available); and invite people to try and call her office?

I'll be thrilled if he can back up his claim that he was just doing a report on the problems that some people have had calling her office. He's done a great service to our cause in showing the corruption of the ACORN fanatics.

Strangely enough, I've never had a problem getting Mary Landrieu's office to answer my calls. I'm rarely on the positive side of any probability, but they have been willing to talk to me.

I just got back from a Lefty message board and they already have O’Keefe tried, convicted and prison raped in the anus. One Leftard said he must be guilty because all Irish Catholics are Democrats. LOL!

I remember reading your post. Nuts; it was a great story, though. I agree, Free Republic and the research skills of the members really is amazing and remarkably fast.
