Sarah PAC, the political action committee of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, collected $1.4 million over the final six months of 2009, a solid -- if not spectacular -- total that demonstrates her fundraising capacity as she mulls a bid for national office in 2012.
"We are thrilled," said Palin senior adviser Meg Stapleton about the fundraising total. "Common sense Americans know the direction we need to take this country and that Sarah Palin will be instrumental in taking us there this year."
For the year, Palin raised roughly $2.1 million through Sarah PAC and ended the year with $900,000 in the bank. She donated $64,600 to candidates and party committees.
That relatively high burn rate is due to an expansion of the organization's staff, according to those familiar with its operations. (Remember that with Palin out of office -- she resigned the governorship in July 2009 -- her PAC is her only political and policy vehicle.)

I'm sure not sending her anymore money when there's a chance it might end up being given to McCain.
I hope she raises $25 million more this year
Well slumpy....my $100 check is in the mail. More to come.
Ditto. She has hurt her fund raising potential by supporting McCain IMO.
She just gave 10 grand to Jon Kasich..I think its wrong of people to sum up her entire PAC because of her supporting McCain
Besides some conservatives getting money from Palin Pac, Graham, Hatch, and McCain have gotten cash as well.
Without Palin, John would most likely have to come out of his pocket to fund his campaign.
Sarah Palin didn’t start SarahPAC until Jan 27, 2009 so that 2.1 m is over 11 months and not 12.
Don’t forget Michele Bachmann and Marsha Blackburn, they also received money..also found out today she gave 10,000 to Jon Kasich
Hence, “some conservatives”.
IMO it's totally unnecessary to raise that kind of money for a leadership PAC like SarahPAC.
Whoever the GOP nominee is in 2012, he/she will have to play a major role in raising a billion dollars to take down the corrupt Dem machine. Small donors will play a major role in supplying that kind of money and Palin has the ability to tap into that unlike anyone else in the party.
If she is not the nominee, the party would be insane not to make peace with her. They ain't exactly acting like they're smart right now, though. :)
I believe this total was up to Dec 31, 2009. Sarah didn’t endorse McCain till this month although it was rumored in 2009 she would.
You might be right, but her decision strengthens the movement to give to your candidate of choice and not through an intermediary such as the RNC, RSCC, or other PACs.
A bit of information which might be relevant:
The FEC will not let you transfer your PAC $$ into a presidential account. Thus you don’t want to go overboard and raise too much.
PS, if you pick Gingrich or McCain as VP, promise is null and void.
Al, great result for Sarah. Didn’t take long for the single issue drongos to turn up though did it (LOL).
Exactly, but it's nice she outraised Romney in 2H '09 without really trying. :)
Sarah Palin didnt start SarahPAC until Jan 27, 2009 so that 2.1 m is over 11 months and not 12.
There is also rumoured to be at least 1/2 a million dollars in her defense fund, some of which might have gone into her PAC. A great showing without even trying.
