Heavyweight Showdown in Texas GOP Primary for Governor
Pajamas Media ^ | Jan 31 | G. M. Roper

A popular U.S. senator and an incumbent governor headline a close race, but a feisty conservative activist is gaining ground.

------------------

Last but by no means least is the most conservative of the bunch, Debra Medina. A Republican Party activist and the former Wharton County Republican Party chair, as well as the former state coordinator for the Campaign for Liberty, Medina is an admitted long shot, but she has seemingly pushed an awful lot of the right buttons with her share of likely voters:

A new Rasmussen Reports poll revealed a significant shift to Medina among likely Texas primary voters. She now stands at 12%, up considerably from November:

Ok Dimwit, well you did say to call you that...since when has homeschooling kids qualify one to serve as a state Governor? The fact you even mention this as something to toot about reveals where you are at in your understanding of politics.

You do know she quotes Bill Clinton in her speeches I assume? You know too she is a Ron Paul lacky...look at what he supports.

I cannot do your homework for you but maybe if you look further than her website and listen to why people are opposing her you would better understand why we’re saying her running is not a good and she will do terrible as a Gov.

She claims the support of the Teaparty...they say not so.

She has no record

You are an obvious troll.

The trend I notice is that voters are particularly going against women, espcially liberal ones.

You can say what you like about Kay Bailey’s conservative credentials. They make her the most conservative women in the Senate, but not in the top third of conservatives ther, and she certainly is not as conservative as Perry.

She will go down.

Homeschooling doesn’t qualify one for Governor. But homeschooling does indicate that one is conservative and views public education lacking. I did not know that she quotes Bill Clinton in her speeches, but is that disqualifying? Sure she has some connections to Ron Paul, but is that disqualifying? Ron Paul does have some good ideas too. Does that make her a “lacky?” I have not heard her say one thing about “support” of the tea party. I didn’t even know that the Tea Party was a real political party.

For someone who does not live in Texas, you sure do have a lot of knowledge about the politics of Texas. Do you use shortwave radio or just a tin foil hat?
Dimwit.

See he has a right to run if he wants to and owes you no explanation.

Thanks for sounding like an establishment hack.
I'm sure in this era of Tea-Parties and anti-incumbency climate, you're on the side of the condescending jokers on MSNBC and Dems.

The syntax and typing style with the CAPS for emphasis certainly makes it look that way. The worship, as opposed to support, for Medina just about cinches it.

I can't see MSNBC or the DNC remotely supporting Rick Perry on anything.

They'll save their support for Bill White in the general this November.

Welcome to Free Republic. :)

Unless something major occurs between now and the primary, I’m casting my vote for Medina.

Perry to me, is a slick-talking scam artist. I don’t trust him after what he’s been trying to do with the TTC, and his fondness for land grabbing. I’ve seen him waffle too many times on our border. I don’t like how most Texans knew nothing of his plans to add on to the Governor’s mansion, either. And he reminds me too much of Mitt Romney.

Then there’s Kay Bailey, who was once a fine senator - but that was prior to about 15 years ago. In recent years, she’s more concerned with her political alliances and moving up the ladder.

I do think this slugfest between Perry & KB is quite amusing to watch. Exposing themselves as they needle one another is only hurting them both, and it’s ultimately going to allow Medina to win once Texans vote.

Isn't that a derogatory term and double entendre?

Is this what you really meant to post?

I notice that the focus in this 2010 race seems to be on the GOP nominee. White has a number of challengers but he seems to be staying clear of media (over)exposure while Kay and Rick bloody each other up.
