Stimulus created 600,000 jobs at the end of 2009, White House says

The Obama administration's economic stimulus program created nearly 600,000 jobs in the final three months of 2009, a figure in line with the administration's goals for job creation through the end of 2010, the White House reported Saturday night.
The new total was down from the totals reported for the previous quarter, partly because the administration decided in December to count only the jobs paid for with stimulus funding instead of estimating the number of jobs "created or saved" with the money.
Critics had panned the "created or saved" measurement as a subjective and confusing way of determining the program's success.

That’s a tiny fraction of the job losses. Total failure of the usefulness of government stimulus.

Created?
Any jobs to be counted were gov't union jobs funded from Zer0's stash.

Stuart Varney said on Hannity a couple of days ago to beware of employment stats that include census workers. They of course are temporary and will drop off incrementally as the census winds down.

The problem for the democrats is that even the gullible CNN watching Independents are not buying these preposterous lies.
Reminds me of a basic economic fact of life:
A recession is when your neighbor is out of work.
A depression is when you are out of work.
An economic recovery is when Obama is out of work.

It might have. Seriously, it really might have.
After all, with that big of a slush fund, anyone could create quite a lot of paper “jobs” for a little while. Fully paid ones, too, no (or little) work needed!
Of course, paying for the slush fund certainly cost many times that many real productive jobs. But that’s good, too, at least if you want to destroy America’s economy and use that crisis to completely change America into a marxist state...

stimulus money: $780 billion
jobs ‘created’: 600,000
COST PER JOB: $1,300,000
can i get one of these jobs please? (who says working for the gov’t doesn’t pay off?)

The headline is bogus. The administration decided to count:
administration decided in December to count only the jobs paid for with stimulus funding
That means, stimulus money is being wasted even worse than we thought.
To: SkyDancer
Paid for with stimulus funds = government/state employees. UNION hacks. When the stimulus funds run out, WE THE PEOPLE will be called upon to pony up MORE money to PAY for these jobs, cause we all know NO ONE has ever been FIRED or DOWNSIZED from a government job.

The WaPo article keeps referring to "stimulus recipients", but never goes into detail who or what the recipients are. Are they people or businesses or both? Was the money handed directly over to them? Or did they actually get a "job" (for however many days. . .) so they could be counted as a "job created"?
Remember when Clinton touted his "one million police officers on the street"? The fed paid for exactly one year's worth of salary. After that, it was up to the state, county, city, or town to continue paying the salary or - poof - there goes the job! But Clinton got to make political hay out of it.
Something tells me the U.S. media would not have let Bush get away with something like this. Are they letting Zero get away with it now? Methinks so . . .

where the heck are these supposed jobs?A lot are temporary jobs. TXDOT repaved a 15 mile stretch of road, put in new gaurdrails and straightened some curves (which was already planned) using stimulus $$$$$s. Well, that project is done and those people are looking for work again.
