Gay Ban Should Be Lifted, Mullen Says (Barf)
The Wall Street Journal ^ | February 2, 2010 | AP

WASHINGTON—The military's top uniformed officer said Tuesday that gays should be allowed to serve openly in uniform, arguing that it is "the right thing to do."

Adm. Mike Mullen's statement was the strongest yet from the military on this volatile issue, although he stressed that he was "speaking for myself and myself only." He told the Senate Armed Services Committee Tuesday he is deeply troubled by a policy that forces people to "lie about who they are in order to defend their fellow citizens."

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs Staff said he knows many will disagree about abandoning the "don't ask, don't tell" policy and said there are practical obstacles to lifting the 1993 ban. But he said he thinks the military can handle it. Adm. Mullen is chief military adviser to President Barack Obama.

I suspected Mullen would do this though surprised he feels this strongly.

There is no “gay” ban. The ban is talking about it. If these people would just shut up, they would be fine.

An excellent point.

Mullen. Isn’t he a Navy guy? Hmmm. Lets see, men who want to be isolated on ships, away from women. Suspicions confirmed.

There is NO gay ban....

What they are prohibited from doing is flaunting their sexuality. The Pentagon’s policy guidelines on homosexuals in the Military state:

“Sexual orientation will not be a bar to service unless manifested by homosexual conduct. The military will discharge members who engage in homosexual conduct, which is defined as a homosexual act, a statement that the member is homosexual or bisexual, or a marriage or attempted marriage to someone of the same gender.”

It’s open homosexuality that the military prohibits. Ike Skelton, the leading House Democrat on military policy, opposes repealing the policy. So does John McCain, who responded to the president’s decision by defending DADT. He said, “This successful policy has been in effect for over 15 years, and it is well understood and predominantly supported by our military at all levels.”

Exactly...This will open up a can of worms for those that want to take the “in you face” approach.

Any military officer above O-6 are politicians first, military officers second.
They are so far out of touch with their troops it's not funny.

And did we all contact the President and our Representatives and tell them leave

Don’t Tell ,Don’t ask , alone!

You need to fire 90% of the Flag/General officers in today’s military. And about 75% of the birds too.

YOu’re on a sub. It’s below surface for 6 months. One guy starts letting his wanker, (which is pierced and has chains attached to the cock ring) be displayed for all to see. he is in the bunk by you, and constantly is a problem. The Skipper puts a stop to it, but what’s done is done.

Do you want that crew who is now royally stressed by this one persons irresponsible behavior, his being a walking penis, to be in charge of our nation’s defense? Are they now as effective as they were before?

This will happen in the name of equality and human rights. Forget our rights to be free and have libery.

Anal sex is equal to the covenant of marriage.

I would summon this Admiral to the oval office and summarily retire him. Political Correctness is from the deepest pits of hell as it will kill the last Christian nation on earth.

Hopefully Ike Skelton can rally the conservative Dems to stop this.

Patrick Murphy introduced the bill to repeal, it'd be nice to see him defeated in November.

Just wait till the libs start screaming like banchees because the draft has to be reinstituted and their numbers come up. They should be careful of what they wish for... these things have unintended consequences.
