"Although many cynics argue that, given the fact Obama did speak at Notre Dame, Roeder did receive the maximum sentence (which he is now appealing) and, of course, thousands of babies are still murdered in this country every year by legal abortions, that Randall's in-your-face, often eccentric (my favorite is still when Terry, dressed as the devil, seranaded a bunch of flabbergast pro-choice feminist protestors to the tune of Frankie Valli's "You're Just Too Good to be True") tactics are no longer successful--but that's like saying Mother Teresa was a failure because there are still poor people in India" --Tom O'Toole.

You've got to be kidding!!!...
There are plenty of real life pro-life heroes who give their all every single day behind the scenes...
..and aren't looking for public adulation & recognition like Randall Terry....

All opponents of abortion are important, but the difference is that Terry is NOT behind the scenes, but front line, putting life and reputation on the line every day. You need to read Terry's short book,
A Humble Plea (click on image), before you label him a recognition seeker.

Surely we can do better with our "pro-life heroes" than celebrating a guy who dumped his wife to run off with his secretary.
I mean, I'm just saying...

Randall Terry is a Catholic convert. Read his book (link above) and you'll better understand what you're talking about.

Thanks.
At the risk of being inappropriately personal, sorry to see (from your profile page) that you find yourself, well, disillusioned about the faith.
Hopefully you understand that I don't mean to disparage in any way the good work done by many dedicated pro-lifers; I just find myself, well, disillusioned about Randall Terry.

Randall Terry is a Catholic convert.Well, yes -- after he was excommunicated from Protestantism.
Alright, okay, I suppose I won't deny the possibility that his penitence over his adulterous divorce and remarriage is genuine.
He just seems to me like someone who wants to jangle his coins in the collection plate pretty loudly, for a guy who brought a lot of public scandal to the Pro-Life activist community. I guess "Your Mileage May Vary".

Not at all. I don’t harbor anti Christian feelings in the least. I’m still friends with my old pastor. I’m just disillusioned, I guess. I love the pro life movement, but Randall Terry turns my stomach.

I'm very well acquainted with Terry....
Twenty years ago I admired his zeal & purpose.
...He started the race well, but took a wrong path....and I question his integrity now.
You have stars in your eyes now....but I ask you to pray & ask God for wisdom & discernment.

My husband was involved with a couple different protests that Randall orchestrated. One was a last-minute protest, that while it didn't bring out many protesters, it brought out two major news stations (Chicago) to film it just because Randall Terry was behind it. Another time, when about 15-20 protesters showed up in front of a pro-abort politician's office (Chicago again), the politician himself was seen fleeing from the building out the side door. Pro-aborts can't stand Randall Terry, because he's not afraid to do whatever is necessary to bring them to shame. This is what's so extraordinary about Terry. Look and see how tame other pro-lifers (God love them; they are *all* needed!) seem in comparison.
To make fun of Randall Terry with snide remarks or ridiculous imagery, is counterproductive in the pro-life fight. I say, get off your duff and do something positive for the babies (and their mothers).

(Shrugs).
You're entitled to your opinion.
In my book, Mr. Terry has brought too much public scandal to the pro-life cause to rank as much of a "superhero", anymore. The fact is, as long as he insists on seeking the spotlight, it's not just me making "snide remarks" or what have you -- it's every pro-abort who can laugh at the "hypocrisy" of the pro-life movement in general, by pointing to Mr. Terry's own adulterous flaws in particular.
I don't think we should be handing ammunition to the enemy. There is no reason that Mr. Terry cannot do good work for the pro-life cause (and maybe actually save some real, at-risk babies) quietly and anonymously volunteering at crisis pregnancy centers and the like, rather than always seeking the public spotlight for himself -- a public spotlight which, rightly or wrongly, cannot help but illuminate the stains of his own damning past sins for all curious onlookers to see.

LOL, what?!"In 1999, Terry abandoned his wife of nineteen years, Cindy, and their four children in favour of Andrea Kollmorgan, his twenty-something personal assistant. His church censured him, but he would not listen. The church carefully followed all the steps of Matthew 18, but Randall Terry remained unrepentant and he was therefore excommunicated."
