There is a lady who is a true Conservative running for Governor of Texas and, in the polls, she is closing in on Ted Kennedy's girlfriend, Kay Bailey Hutchison. Her name is Debra Medina. Check out her website:
Her position? I don’t know what 287-g is...a proposition?
On “e-verify” I heard her say in the second debate that she did not think that was the best way to curb illegal immigration and not fair to small businesses. Don’t recall details but leaned instead to employees requiring Texas driver license or other verifiable ID and called on law enforcement to act on those who provide false ID as well as those who attempt to use it. Please don’t quote me on this and I would suggest you visit her site for more clarity.
I hope you wouldn’t make a decison on your vote based on this one issue of disagreement, but at least hear her out. She is very adament about doing everything we can to close borders to illegals and to drugs.
Have you been to South Texas lately? Hispanics hold almost entirely all elected office and own majoritiy of businesses in every town south of Victoria. Too late to close the gate now. The immigrants didn’t just assimilate, they took over! and the sooner our candidates realize that the more we can get representatives in who will lead for Texans, not the federal government.
I appreciate the many hard working, America loving hispanics and the contributions they are making. It is the illegal border crashers who come over to take advantage of government hand-outs that are the problem.
Yes, we need to do what we can for the poor and opressed Mexican people whose government is on the wrong track. That must come from our free-will humanity and not from government mandates.
Our government in TEXAS has the obligation to close our borders...to illegals and to drugs. Medina is ready to do just that. With her bold approach and fearless attitude, I think she will rally the legislature.
If you think the Democrats will be leading in the elections you must have been out of the country all winter. It’s obvious voters are bent on replacing all politicians now in office wherever there are viable alternatives.I hope you join the movement now spreading across the nation.
sheila jackson lee in houston needs to go ...
Eliminate property taxes don’t make sense?
I am helping her put large signs around TX hope she wins. I have told most property owners I know about her doing away with property tax. Every one of them is for her so far. We know the people who don’t own property will be glad to see the tax put on sales tax so they help pay for their kids education. We know they don’t feel right with us paying way, they want to help pay for their kids.
Thank You for pointing out whats really going on in Texas
IMO, Texas is headed down the same path that Ca has chosen
In case anyone has not noticed Ca is not a pretty picture
If you want to follow the path of Ca elect Hair Gel or ms. hyphenated
At least you have a chance to elect Medina
It’s your choice what path you want to follow
Ca has a choice between Ebay MegTard , Poizner or Moonbeam Brown.... whoopppiiiiieeee !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Think about it before you vote
She can say anything. If she doesn’t have solid support from conservatives in the state Congress it doesn’t matter. I don’t know of any elected officials who are publicly endorsing her. Are there any?
The most important reason to vote for Debra is that she is the only candidate who understands the reality that the federal government will never - and can never given its very nature - be reformed from the inside out to once again live within the limited confines assigned to it in the US Constitution.
Debra understand that the only path to ultimately bring down the progressive socialist state that has been unconstitutionally created over the last 110 years is for the states to eventually say enough and refuse to comply with unconstitutional federal mandates via nullification and interposition.
In ten years of governing I have not seen one example of Governor Perry “getting this,” or being willing to use the sovereign powers of the state of Texas to resist the federal government in the name of life, liberty, or property.
Every once in a while he talks a good game, throws out the phrase “secession,” or refuses to accept a small portion of the annual federal bribes... but he is still operating under the impression that somehow we can still use the federal government (either via the Courts, the Congress, or the Whitehouse) to resist the federal government’s unconstitutional mandates.
Is this what she is espousing in her Spanish language radio ads?
I’m voting for Debra Medina and have alerted family and friend email list to the same. My Medina yard sign is now up. Bumper sticker to follow.
No, those are meant more as a public service message about
the proper nursing of folks mauled by the dread Chupacabra.
Unless my Spanish fails me. It might have been about fence jumping.
The phrases are really quite similar.
I went to lunch where she spoke and she sounded like the usual Libertarian cross-dressing as a Republican. She's a Libertarian. I don't trust Libertarians. Libertarians are one step up from Anarchists.
... and I’ve heard and watched Governor Perry for a decade and he’s nothing but a wish-washy RINO who has no intention and has never had any intention of beginning the long overdue process of dismantling the socialist welfare state at the state level. Nor, as evidenced by the actions of his many years in office, does he have any intention of taking on the unconstitutional federal mandates emanating from Washington DC.
AT THE VERY BEST what you will get from another four years from Perry is someone who will maintain the untenable status quo. Sure, he’ll stop the Democrats from pushing whatever their agenda of the moment is, but when we have a Republican governor and a Republican legislature we should be doing much more than just “perrying” whatever stupid ideas the Democrats are supporting at the time. Perry isn’t a conservative... he’s a big-government moderate and in Texas the chief enabler of the status quo.
In fact, that’s what a vote for Perry really is... a vote to maintain the status quo and all the big-government freedom-sucking, prosperity-sucking socialism and progressivism that we’ve had shoved down our throats from Washington DC and Austin for the last 100 years.
A vote for Debra Medina, on the other hand, is a vote for liberty, for capitalism, and more importantly, a vote to begin the long overdue process of restoring our surrendered freedoms.
A vote for Debra Medina is a vote to begin the long overdue process of restoring to Texas and ultimately to the United States of America the kind of limited, conservative government envisioned by the founding fathers and mandated by the US Constitution.
Think about apartments and home rentals being lowered after owners no longer owe property tax. Think about Texans having all that extra money to spend or invest? Even if the sales tax goes up to the maximum estimate of 15%, food and utilities and probably other items will be exempt so even the poorest get a fair shake and like you say, share in paying for their children’s education.
Spreading the burden across all consumers is the most sensible way finance the state’s needs and I like to think Texas will pioneer this and show the way for others to follow.
Thank you for helping spread the word for Medina. I have tried in vain to post some articles. Would you have the time to post them for me if I send you the URL? Here is one I found tonight about the property tax study that Medina has relied on.
I want my Governor to be clever and smart enough to know how to get the job done for Texans. To ignore the Hispanic voting block would be naive at least and purely stupid at the most.
I certainly don’t have a problem with her Spanish speaking ads. I wonder if Perry and Hutchinson are running any. Have you checked that out?
I also believe that Texas can lead the way in showing other states how to get out of debt and how to nullify federal government programs and mandates.
It looks like Medina is going to force a runoff if she doesn't win the primary outright. In any case, her campaign has a good chance of becoming nationalized even though it's only for the governorship. I think the issues of border control, property ownership and state sovereignty will capture the attention of America.
Rather they/you tend to “drink the Libertarian kool-aid” and insult/attack anyone that disagrees with them. I try to avoid overt insults or Polemic arguments, and try stick to what I know to be true, but “if the shoe fits ...” ;)
I have a problem with her pandering to people who only speak a foreign language and then saying that she is going to be tough on the border. No politician is going to stop the flow of illegal alien criminal scum flowing into America but to suck up to them is wrong.
I have a REAL problem with her support of Sotomayor as she sure as hell is not conservative and certainly is a relatively unintelligent racist nominated for ONE reason.
I lost all respect for Colin Powell when he supported Obama for one reason only and this is no different.
It is clear that Paulbots can ignore anything to support a libertarian even the well being of their State or Country.
Close to what was said about the Kenyan Klown.
2} She is a leader
The same was said about the Kenyan Klown.
3) She is not a loose cannon
The same was said about the Kenyan Klown.
4) She works well with others
The same was said about the Kenyan Klown.
We already have a no experience, know nothing, hopey changy President why would we use the same mold to elect our Governor?
