The electricity here flickers as well. Not sure of the snow total where I live, but I’d guess at least six inchres right now. The word is that most of us will see at least a foot or more.

Our bus system stopped running a few hours ago. The Parkway West (which takes you to the airport) is shut down, and the other Parkways will probably follow suit. Several other major roads are closed. I live on a main street in this town — no one has even bothered to plow or salt...kinda useless since the snow is still falling. There are hundreds of school, church and other events cancelled. All in all, not a good idea to go out.

We’ve had a lot of flickering, but still have power.

We saw flashes from a transformer short while we were out shoveling the drive.

We’ve shovelled 4 times so far, trying to keep ahead of it, since we aren’t spring chickens. Tomorrow I might have to give in and borrow the neighbor’s snow-blower.

At least we are getting our streets plowed. Turns out the guy assigned to do our neighborhoods actually lives in our neighborhood, so he has to plow us out first to get out to do the rest of the streets he is assigned to.

I have a heart condition so I can't shovel anyway. I do have a fella who does my yard work...he said he would be glad to do some shoveling if I wish, but there is no way I'm going to ask him to do it until the snow stops. Quite frankly, I don't think that if you have this much snow, anyone should be out in it. Oh, and there is that lovely wind chill too. Makes it hard to shovel and puts a strain on anyone’s heart.

All in all, this is a good day to stay home, curl up with something (or someone) warm...maybe just post to or read FR all day.

I’ve got two kids and my wife, all helping (my wife and I are no spring chickens anymore, but I never think of myself as old — but my back hurts easily, so I set up my shoveling so I can slide the snow around and into my yard.

There are two snowblowers on the street. We’ve been shoveling about ever 2 hours or so. I was just out with my daughter, I went out in shorts this time to keep cool, plus my boots gave me blisters so I wore my tennis shoes. It isn’t all that cold if you don’t stay out more than a half hour or so. But stepping hip-deep into snow in shorts.
