There is little to be garnered from that press movement AIT, where is the reaction among Japanese about her bold statement?

I would imagine reaction among the industrialists run the gamut from a smirk to a quiet plan that looks into the effects of a remilitarized Japan’s effect on their business model.

Remiliterization is where this headed if China grows and Obama shirks and seems unsteady in the long run, Pyongyang has not stopped their nuclear ambitions, a weak CIC Obamao only means hard decisions for Japan.

The Japanese always love Americans who tell them they are our most important ally in Asia. Even the ambassadors from the left end of the political spectrum-- Mondale, Mansfield and Reischauer, understood this simple truth and acted upon it. Mondale, in particular, did a great job of containing some of the damage that Clinton did to the Japanese-American alliance.

But ObaMao doesn't think Japan is important precisely because they've been such a steadfast ally of America. It won't take many speeches like this for them to dump any remaining affection for Obama and to welcome a Palin Presidency.

The Japanese don’t respect personal weakness anymore than we do.

As someone who has spent over half of my adult life working for Japanese companies and one-third of it living in Japan, let me tell you: YOU'VE GOT THAT RIGHT, FRIEND!

Excuse my ignorance but ... in what way has Obama caused US-JAPAN relations to deteriorate ?

For starters, there is his kissing up to North Korea and total lack of action or even statements on their missile testing.

Then there is the bashing of Toyota and threats to increase taxation on multi-national corporations, many of whom are Japanese corporations which employ hundreds of thousands of Americans, almost all of whom are non-union.

I noticed that GMUC....(yeah, it used to be GMAC, now it’s General Motors Union Corporation)lost 5 billion in the last quarter of 2009. Now Osama is trashing Toyota, in hopes that his little car experiment will siphon off a few potential buyers.

This is exactly what is going on, sjb. Toyota is making some missteps, too, though. Kind of a mixed bag, but I sense the evil hand of Obama and the unions on this one. In faction, Obama might well have delivered a "State of the Unions" address.
