Okay, all of you forum propriety Nazis, you will all complain that this isn't in the proper forum and today, I really don't give a hang!
Today is Scout Sunday, celebrated throughout the land, except, probably, in those churches that detest the Boy Scouts of America for their stand on Youth Protection and Homosexuality.
Tomorrow is the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts! I was a Scout on the 50th Anniversary and have the privilege of being a Scouter on the 100th.
If you see a Scout at Church today, please congratulate him or her and thank him or her for service to God and Country.

I love the BSA, just did the Pinewood Derby last weekend, and the best thing is that in the BSA there are no awards for self-esteem. You win or lose or earn your badges. Like America should be.
This very month, my son completed the last of all 20 of the activities for his Arrow of Light. Further, we (wife and I) only had to “push” one activity, the Aquanaught and that was just getting him to his swim lessons when he didn’t feel like going. The rest he did with his den and at the direction of his Den leader.
... To say the least, I am very proud of him.

I remember the 50th Anniversary. I was a Scout First Class with several merit badges.

Thanks so much for the post. praise a boy scout. integrity something that is failing with the current O administration. no need to develop a national service organization of Obama Youth - indoctrinated to be socialist thugs, whom are brain dead. Notice O has no praise for the BSA.

This is a key issue between us and the Democrats, isn’t it? They’re all mass this and mass that; unions, eduction associations, mass illegal migration - everything is large numbers, never the individual human being.
The sponsor of my son’s troop was a church we did not attend but we always went with the troop on Scout Sunday as the church made it special to recognize the boys and the adult Scouters. As the father of an Eagle Scout, I always recommend Scouting as a great family-enhancement activity.
I was a Boyscout and it was a way to keep kids out of trouble and learn many different thing.

I was a Cub when the Scouts turned 50.

I was a charter member of troop 161 in Niwot Colorado. It had to be when the Scouts turned 50 but I don’t remember.
I was fortunate enough to be a scout some thirty years back, and my wife and I are leading our son and his friends through their first year as Tiger Cubs.
Life is good!
Grandson is attending in uniform this morning...we are out of town and so sorry to miss this celebration with him...my kids are all grown, but I volunteered to work with my grandson’s troop and have loved every minute of it...my two sons are den leaders...we have a ball with the boys and I wouldn’t miss a Monday night meeting!

50 years ago, I was an Army Brat.
I too was a Scout in 1960 and had the good fortune to attend the 50th Anniversary Jamboree in Colorado Springs. One of the Jamboree’s high points was President Eisenhower in his limo motoring down a road lined with cheering Scouts. I believe I was in the background of one news photo of that event.
You are correct, the Scouts are an ally in raising your son(s). There are few such organizations today. Yet they are demonized by many on the left. I keep waiting for them to come up with their version of the Young Pioneers.
Husband and three Scouts just got home from Mass. Our 4th son will be a Tiger Cub in September.
Our council leaves it up to the individual units as to the date to celebrate.
I’ve recently had to move out of state for a new job. I’ll be home to see my wife and kids in two weeks (and to do Pinewood Derby) That’s when we’re doing Scout Sunday.

Congratulations to your son. My son will be completing his 20th activity badge next week. He beat out his older brother who missed aquanaut because he refused to learn how to swim. He finally learned for the second class requirement. He gave me permission to toss him into the deep end of the pool.

I got to go to the 50th anniversary Jamboree in Colorado...great fun; still remember seeing President Eisenhower riding through in an open convertible.
Went to 8:30 AM service today. All current and former scouts were asked to stand up. About 1/3 of the males in the congregation rose. Not bad, but I wish it had been 1/2. Be Prepared!
As a former Scout, and former Assistant Scoutmaster, with all 3 sons former Scouts, those periods of life have been some of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
Thank you BSA for 100 years of outstanding community service. All done without government guidelines and oversight.

I was a Scout too and remember those times with fondness as well.
After the service, the Pastor and I had a nice chat about Venturing. Now I need to find more information about starting a Crew.

Girl Scouting’s Birthdate is March 12 1912. Girl Scout Sunday is that week. They were granted a U.S Federal Charter on March 16, 1950.
Thanks, SandRat. I was a Bluebird, and then I “flew up” to become a Girl Scout. We met at my church. That would have been late ‘50s.
Had lots of Girl Scouts come to the Local BSA District Scout-A-Rama http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2446346/posts to cheer on the Cubs and to climb across the rope bridge we had up. All were in uniform.
Fun!! I don’t remember doing activities with Boy Scouts. We were strictly segregated back then.
Went to our troop’s chartering church today and it was great.
