White House press corps feels bypassed by Obama in favor of TV shows, YouTube
The Washington Post ^ | February 8, 2010 | Howard Kurtz

Six months ago, network executives were complaining that the White House was costing them tens of millions of dollars by pressing them to carry presidential news conferences in prime time.

Problem solved: President Obama hasn't held a full-scale news conference since July. Instead, he answered a dozen people's questions last week on YouTube, most of them easily finessed and -- extra bonus! -- no annoying follow-ups of the kind posed by real, live journalists.

It would be hard -- impossible, actually -- to argue that Obama hasn't been accessible to the media, not with his constant television interviews. The man has even done color commentary at a Georgetown basketball game. But the decision to bypass the White House press corps is no accident.

"It's a source of great frustration here," says Chip Reid, CBS's White House correspondent. "It's important for us to hold the president's feet to the fire."

NBC White House reporter Chuck Todd calls the situation a "shame," saying the administration is trying to control the message rather than allowing Obama to be seen "unscripted."

You served your purpose by being Zero’s whore and cheerleader.
Better put some ice on that, Howie.

Perhaps the WH press corpse, can arrange a re-broadcast agreement with Fox News Channel.

Or figure out how it is, that despite open hostility from the liberals currently occupying our White House...

Fox’s audience is growing. Rapidly. :)

Press corps ask questions. Dictators don’t like answering questions. Simple as that.

UNSCRIPTED?

Obama unscripted is too much of an embarrassment. Go read what his advisors have said about the Press Corpse. The Obama handlers managed the message all through the campaign. The Press Corpse is still brownnosing him as evidenced by the coverage of his meeting with the Republicans. Only clips favorable to Zero are ever shown. He doesn’t respect you, Press Corpse, he just uses you. Do you all feel like really cheap whores?

Easy explanation for this.

When covering 0bama, the White House press corps uses their hands.

TV media uses their mouths.

Well the WH press corp has nobody to complain to but the networks themselves. They are the ones extending all these
invitations to Obama to appear on their shows. As far as the print guys, they can do what they have always done, make some more sh*t up! ;-)

” — no annoying follow-ups of the kind posed by real, live journalists. “

Pffft. There’s only 2 of them in the White House press corps. Easily avoided.

Obama doesn't trust the WH press "corpse" with his image creation and propaganda.

We need counter propaganda:

Chuck Todd?! Chuck freakin’ Todd?! That would be the same Chuck Todd who does Robert Gibbs’ job better than Robert Gibbs? The same Chuck Todd who uses the pronoun “we” when talking about things the White House does?!

Please.

Obama must not be letting the WH press corpse join in on his daily foot washings, either.

I love the sound of a lover scorned.

Would this be the same White House Press Corpse that gleefully poked fun at Bush for ‘nukyular’ and says nothing about Obama’s ‘Navy Corpseman?’

Maybe White House Press Corpse is appropriate too.

The only thing the White House is trying to do is to make sure the idiot doesn't dig himself into a bigger hole without his teleprompter! Anyone who doesn't see the real reason he will not hold a presser with them is an idiot!

.” The president, he says, finds news conferences to be an “important way of communicating,” but the next one will be during the day, carried only on cable, not in prime time.

President B+ is now afraid to get some tough questions about his 1st year in office. If he is this afraid of his MSM boot lickers, it is even more reason to hold his feet to the fire.
