Well no doubt there will be a few politicians in the district that will want to run for the seat that will pressure Rendell to schedule an early election.
I would imagine that there is almost always a school district that wants to put a levy on the ballot. At least in Ohio there is usually a local issues ballot in April for such things that they could throw Murthas seat on.

Hildy,
Marines did not take kindly to what he did to our brother Marines be we retired, active duty or reservist. He lost respect then and inasmuch as he NEVER apologized for what he did, the pain he caused so many, it is unlikely any will be inclined to want to be in any Honor Guard for his funeral though they may be REQUIRED to serve a man who in many of our views does not deserve full honors for what he did. Unless you have been in our boots do not presume to tell us how we should feel about this disgraceful former Marine.
To: RobinMasters; Hildy
Thanking him for his service seems rather like thanking a guy kicked out for dereliction of duty, perjury, conduct unbecomming, and theft of government property.
He served with distinction in V.N., granted; but he, to me, merely changed Services, when he entered Congress, and “continued to serve”. That service was most dishonorable.
When a serving member of the military is (or at least was in ‘my day’) Dishonorabled out, they are stripped of their honors.
I see this as no different, so to hell with alligator tears and “thanking him for his service”.
Just a simple, “good bye, and good riddance,” is plenty sufficient. Anything else is just plain hypocrisy.

I just went over to DU. It took about 10 posts on the first thread before they began to worry about a Republican taking his seat.

Some Democrat (didn’t get his name), was on with Stuart Varney a while ago, and said that the complications from gall bladder surgery was because “they” had perforated his intestines. Does anyone know if this is true, or is this just another Dem lying to score health care reform points?

On the thread regarding his admittance into ICU that was mentioned by one poster as being reported.
