ROMULUS, Mich. – A portion of a terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Airport was evacuated Monday after a man walked through a passenger screening checkpoint and refused to obey security officers, officials said.
The passenger failed to stop about 7:45 a.m. at the McNamara Terminal, the Transportation Security Administration said. The man was arrested by airport police and was being questioned, airport spokesman Mike Conway said.
"The Transportation Security Administration asked him to stop and he didn't comply," Conway said.
TSA workers activated an alarm and called police. Security doors were lowered at the portion of the terminal between the security checkpoint and terminal concourse, and people in that area were evacuated, Conway said.

One idiot pulling a stunt like this is all it takes to shut down an airport for several hours. He’ll probably get a lot of prison time but it’s cases like this that tempt me to call for the return of the pillory.
Muslims or at any rate Arabs routinely ignore instructions from flight attendants, etc. I was on a flight a couple of days ago where the attendant told one Arabic man that he could not change his seat to sit next to another in a particular location, but she offered them two seats together in another part of the plane. The Arabic man refused, and as soon as the flight attendant went up the aisle, he moved into the seat next to his friend (which was the seat the flight attendant told him he could not take). She was obviously intimidated, because she glanced at him but said nothing when she saw it.
Then they both simply ignored instructions to turn off their electronic devices (phones) when landing, and one was even texting. Again, the flight attendant noticed this, but she clearly didn’t want to delay the landing by taking them on.
I don’t know if they were up to something, possibly seeing how much they can get away with, or if that was just routine arrogant, rude Arab behavior.
yah... and that really needs a re-think. If there's a security breach it just doesn't make any sense to evacuate the whole place. If anything... you don't want anyone to *leave*. But rushing everyone outside does two very bad things: a.) It gives a bad guy a chance to escape in the crowd, and b.) It creates a perfect (and predictable) target for a car bomb(s) along the concourse with perhaps thousands of people in a dense crowd waiting to go back in.

Arabs seem to have a special reason to want to be rude to the USA. This goes beyond Frenchman rude.

One of them had a little smirk, as if daring the flight attendant to try to do something about it. I think she should have made him move, but on the other hand, we probably would have had to turn back if he had refused and the schedule was already out of whack because of the snowstorm. Something of which he was perfectly aware, I’m sure.
Or maybe they figured the two rudeniks wold be better off together than one next to some other hapless passenger who was going to take that seat.
That is exactly what is going on. The terrorist are testing the limits of our security.
And they’re doing it out in the open and suing whoever they can for making a stink about it at the scene.
I have a feeling that this is going to come to a screeching halt with a President Palin. But until then, “interesting times.”
