Why are those Super Bowl ad execs so mad at women?
Boston Herald ^ | February 9, 2010 | Lauren Beckham Falcone

Mad Men sure are angry at women.

Advertising execs unleashed their fury Sunday night, one lady-hating Super Bowl commercial at a time.

From Bridgestone tires to Dodge cars to Bud Light, it was bros vs. hos on the boob tube, with ads depicting women as spine-stealing nags.

Every time this issue comes along, I remember the Progressive Insurance ad where the woman simulates cutting her man's genitals via a computer.

A welcome change considering the decades of men/father bashing we’ve endured in TV/movies/ads.

I doubt it’s the executives mad at anyone. They spend millions on these ads and they are carefully crafted. Every one has been focus grouped and tested time and again. What they must have found is that their product would fare better with this approach than any other tested.

It would take a pretty angry exec to spend the million plus dollars it would take to use a Super Bowl ad to get back at women.

GOOSE/GANDER ...didn’t watch.. only saw ONE of the commercials. As in ALL TV.. Network, and most cable..

MEN (especially Heterosexual WHITE MEN) fit into 2 categories on TV. they’re either the EVIL bad guy or they’re the “Lovable DUMMY” that wouldn’t know which end of a screwdriver to use.

Who is Lauren Beckham Falcone? Some feminist broad with an attitude?

The SB ads were no different than most other ads which portray men, husbands and fathers as spineless, wimpy emasculated, beer drinking doofuses who can’t put the seat down and need a woman to correct their many, many faults.

I’m sick of this misandry in our culture.

That’s funny because my wife thought the theme was castrated men, we both missed the women that did the castrating.

Even if most of the ads make men look stupid, if you even just air one ad that is even remotely approaching making woman that way the Leftists go nuts and make mountains out of molehills.

Yeah, I thought the Dodge Challenger ad was pathetic. The theme was that the guy is a henpecked powerless loser, but at least if he buys a Challenger (or was it a Charger) he can feel like a real man.

Then again, the truth hurts. There probably are a lot of henpecked losers out there. And they probably do think the car makes the man.

The Dodge Ram wasn’t anti-woman, just a man rewarding himself for putting up for a lot of crap. Women need to quit whining and start being part of the relationship team. Feminism has done more damage to the American society than it will ever admit.

“Most of the ads make men look stupid.”

I saw more than one ad with men in underwear or skimpy costumes. And not the type of men that would appeal to the ladies watching.

I heard something like that the other day. I think I was at my mom’s house and it was on some sitcom. Why is it funny to talk about mutilating a man’s genitals? Boy would there be an uproar if it was reversed.

Bingo.

A big part of that damage is that it has made so many women blind to the disparity.

“From Bridgestone tires to Dodge cars to Bud Light, it was bros vs. hos on the boob tube, with ads depicting women as spine-stealing nags.”

They aren’t?

Women don’t have to make choices, they can “have it all”. And the ones that don’t have it all, are making some guy pay for it. This is a generality of course, aimed at liberal women. Freeper women excluded. :)

The one that always gets me is the Yoplait ad. The woman on the phone, talking about the stuff she eats, and her “man” looking through the fridge like a starving, confused dog. She finally notices him, and asks in a very superior tone: “Babe, what are you doing?” The poor excuse for a man looks up, now guilty and confused. This ad is meant to market yougurt to women. It’s long running, which means, it must appeal to their intended customer base, and get results. It makes me want to smack that guy and tell him to grow a pair.

Purposefully damaging.

And by that, I mean INFERNALLY purposeful.
The goal is the destruction of the family (and the Church).

And the best way to do that is to totally destroy the role of men as husbands and fathers. You go for the head when you really want to kill something.

I thought the Punxsutawney Polamalu ad was funny. Along with the Betty Shite/Abe Vigoda and Clydesdale/steer ads, those were the most harmless ones.

BTW, Betty White was great in the old Mary Tyler Moore show.

It used to be that the stereotypical mid-life crisis car was to compensate for being poorly endowed. Now the Dodge Challenger is to compensate for being completely castrated.

Then there was the Dove body wash commercial for when you have even forgotten what it was like before you were snipped like an adopted mongrel dog.

I don’t think Dove portrayed men as wimpy. They are spending a lot of money on this marketing campaign. If you want to try this product for free ..go to Walgreens this week. $5.99 and get a 6.00 register reward. There is a coupon on their website.

Hey, I'm a married woman and my husband puts the toilet seat down and takes out the trash and puts his socks in the laundry basket and sometimes puts the cans in the recycle bin and shaves on weekends and lets me pick the movies a lot of the time and just generally puts up with my $&*#.

And as far as I'm concerned, he can drive any damn car he wants*!

I almost cheered when I saw that commercial. Although my husband does these things with a lot more grace :-)

*Except a motorcycle, LOL!

Some women need to just grow up and get over themselves...

Get this. In a Boston Globe editorial today they called the ads misogynistic and overheated and pushed a shallow notion of what it is to be a man. They then point out that 2 members of the Saints offered better examples of what family is all about. Ready for this? Scott Fujita used the media to discuss his support for gay marriage!! They had the nerve to say that this is what family and manhood is all about. According to the Globe that is a pro-family stance....huh? They failed to mention that he planned to be drunk for 30 days!

My husband is intelligent handsome and well spoken and he can hold his own when it comes to a disagreement with me. If those women on tv were so smart they wouldn’t have married those men.
