They're back! The "Bomb Iran" crowd is making a big return to the political center stage after months of puzzlement over what to do about developments in the Islamic Republic. Hawks such as Daniel Pipes and John Bolton are arguing that Iran is dead-set on its pursuit of a nuclear arsenal -- and point to developments such as President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's announcement this weekend that Iran would enrich its uranium stocks to 20 percent to argue that diplomatic avenues have reached a dead end. The would-be bombers fear that the mullahs will leverage their nuclear capability to expand Persian influence through the Arab world and beyond -- and argue that the United States must do anything in its power, including the use of force, to stop them.
This movement had its heyday in neoconservative circles in 2006 and 2007, following Iran's official announcement that it had started to enrich uranium and the subsequent U.S.-led push in the U.N Security Council for additional sanctions. And who could forget 2008 presidential candidate John McCain's memorable "Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" gaffe, sung to the tune of the Beach Boys' "Barbara Ann"? In the wake of Iran's contested election last June, pro-bomb pundits have argued that the popular unrest -- including the imminent anti-regime protests scheduled for Feb. 11, the anniversary of the Islamic Republic -- far from meaning the United States should hold back, presents a perfect opportunity to target the increasingly unpopular leadership of the Iranian regime. Needless to say, it doesn't appear that Obama will be taking their advice any time soon; administration officials have strongly suggested they prefer to deal with Iran's nuclear ambitions through diplomacy and sanctions.

“administration officials have strongly suggested they prefer to deal with Iran’s nuclear ambitions through diplomacy and sanctions.”
Is it seriously going to take a mushroom cloud over one or two American cities to get it through Obama’s head that Iran is NOT kidding around?
It wasn't until the next Republican came into office did the problem get resolved.
It's Groundhog Day all over again.
I TRULY think that’s what Zero wants. Anything to take this great country down......whatever means necessary.
I have a feeling that after Feb 11, Israel is going to address this problem for us. There is no way that country can allow that bunch of kooks in Iran to have nuclear weapons — and Bebe knows he cannot trust Obama.
Is it seriously going to take a mushroom cloud over one or two American cities to get it through Obamas head that Iran is NOT kidding around?
I pray to God that never happens, but if it did, Zero still wouldn’t get it. I never feared a nuke during the Cold War the way that I do now.
They prefer to deal with Iran’s emerging nukes with capitulation, calumny for those who disagree, and cowardice. Obama has no desire to defend America or civilization from the savages who run Iran.
They’re back! The “Appease Iran” crowd is making a big return to the political center stage after months of puzzlement over what to do about developments in the Islamic Republic. Appeasers such as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are arguing that Iran is dead-set on a peaceful source of nuclear energy — despite continuned rejection from developments such as President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s announcement this weekend that Iran would enrich its uranium stocks to 20 percent to argue that diplomatic avenues have reached a dead end. The would-be expert negotiators are confident that their great diplomatic prowess and continued lobbying of the virtually impotent EU, IAEA and related bodies mullahs will entice Iran with enough carrots and sticks to change their course - even after six years of repeatedly being laughed at by Iran.
time to recall once again,
“Thanks Jimmy Carter” you fool
for giving Iran to the Mullah heads and removing our friend the Shah.
A bombing campaign by one or two countries will do NOTHING to address the root of the problem we face - the mullah’s desire to obtain nuclear weapons.
All a bombing will do at this point is destroy the good will we currently have with Iranian citizens and force them to coalesce around their leaders, who will benefit immensely from it. It will, at best, temporarily halt their program, but it will NOT stop it.
Whether we like it or not, Iran will get the bomb. The best course of action is for the West to use every possible resource we have to effect a regime change (the majority of Iran’s people HATE the mullahs) and replace them with a less antagonistic and more pro-Western government. It’s a difficult task, but not an impossible one.
And then the usual suspects would scream that we shouldn't go to war “for Israel”.
THEN the mushroom cloud would appear over an American city or two.
Whereupon the same usual suspects will say that we deserved it for supporting Israel.
Zero doesnt have the stones.
Durn, beat me to it. You are right - no $alls.
I agree, our ALLY can not allow Iran to get a nuke. Unfortunately the current administration apparently does not believe that anyone would use a nuke; however, there is no doubt in my mind that the day Iran has a nuclear button they will push it against Israel. I think the administration wants Israel to act alone. That way they can walk away from Israel declaring them extremist. Mark my words; I am not kidding on this.
I agree with you 100%. Obama — raised a Muslim — hates Israel even more than he hates the US. And that’s saying something. Obama hates freedom wherever it exists — hence his refusal to support the protesters in Iran and his bitter anger over the people of Honduras legally removing the Marxist despot obama and chavez wanted to remain in place.
Obamunism is modern-day Marxism. And free peoples everywhere are going to need to be prepared to oppose it at every turn.
Those awaiting the thirteenth imam are NOT reasonable, nor will they be deterred by the idiocy of their actions and the surety of a thousand fold retaliation.
