Francisco "Pancho" Real, a former shot caller for the Drew Street clique of the notorious Avenues gang out of Los Angeles, CA, is spilling his guts, and among his allegations is that criminal defense attorneys "provided him with addresses of witnesses so that he and others could threaten them" as reported by Sam Quinones for the Los Angeles Times. Real has named the attorneys, and "Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office, declined to comment."

The will get ugly with the DA’s involved. Many believe this has gone on for sometime and reaches all the counties here in CA.

Not just in CA, either. There have been a couple of recent high-profile cases in NY and NJ against criminal defense lawyers whom prosecutors allege stepped over the line from representing gang clients to facilitating the criminal organization through witness intimidation and worse.
That happens on Law and Order all the time.
... and they wonder why witnesses will not give information - even anonymously. It’s a death sentence for the witness, proving that the death penalty is a deterrent.
Headline is really poorly written.

good point; I’d never thought about that but you’re right. In cities across America folks are concerned about “snitching” because of deadly retaliation.

Yeah, some criminal defense lawyers and their private detective operatives can be really sleazy, and some have been tied to organized crime and street criminals who engage in witness intimidation through online stalking, physical stalking, dirty tricks, express threats and sometimes outright arranging hits. However, local and federal law enforcement increasingly have become more sophisticated in dealing with these lawyers and their operatives, and there’s been a wave of indictments recently, and undoubtedly more are to come.
As a former gang officer who spent 7 years chasing these vermin, I can tell you that all of the episodes described by this gangster absolutely occur. Not just in L.A. which is virtually another world, especially with respect to the gang sub-culture. They extend their tentacles into every facet of Americana. Gangs are a cancer and like rogue nations, they only understand force. They respect force because they practice it but too many of our elected officials and police administrators, sensitive to vocal “community leaders” hamstring the cops on the front line.
Hard to see how this guy has a long life ahead of him.
I’d send every gang member to Gitmo. Why we even tolerated this in the first place is beyond me.
Democrats need to nurse their cultural pathologies in order to maintain a grasp on power.
Who gets to define "Gang"?
Harsh measures? Absolutely! Tough, Zero Tolerance, law enforcement?
All for it.
Take them out and shoot them solely because of their association?
