This wouldn't be much....except the vegatative was burned off of the mountain sides and the previous rains soaked the soil so that they are now ...well here is the story:
Evacuations ordered for hillside neighborhoods in L.A. County
*************************EXCERPT**********************************
February 8, 2010 | 10:38 pm
Los Angeles County authorities issued mandatory evacuation orders Monday night for more than 500 residences in mudslide-prone areas in La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta and Acton.
The residences must be evacuated by 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. Sheriff's deputies were notifying residents Monday night in affected neighborhoods.
A complete list of all addresses to be evacuated can be found on the
Web page of the County Department of Public Works.
Evacuation centers will be set up at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 2411 Montrose Ave., Montrose, and the Acton Community Center at 3748 Nickels Ave. in Action, authorities said.
Some residents in La Cañada Flintridge, where mud flows damaged dozens of homes Saturday, have questioned whether the county's warning system worked sufficiently.

Can’t say positively,...but I doubt it as it hasn’t rained here yet today..and it is getting dark so it will be here in a bit it appears.

another heavy rain here again... LOTS of thunder and lightning here in Eagle Rock , about 8 mins away from the mudslide area!

Getting some medium heavy rain down here for the last 20, 30 minutes.

Listening to KFI...said there is currently no problem in that area or out here in the Orange County burn area.

That is AMAZING that they haven’t had any more slides. We have had steady rain in Eagle Rock for two or three hours and LOTS of thunder/lightning.

Sounds like Santa Anita might be in for some more cancellations.'
Several years ago, my longish commute from Santa Monica to Monrovia would take me by Santa Anita. I HATED racing season, as the traffic on the 210 just f*cked things up for me all the more.

They sure as hell did in the early eighties! I'd head east out of Pasadena and the agony would begin...
